This change in C-39 jumped out at me: it rewrites s. 8.1(3) of the Building Canada Act so key information on a "national interest" project can be made public up to 30 days *after* it’s authorized. Right now, that information has to be published at least 30 days *before* authorization. 🤔
30 days to make information public
(3) The Minister must, not later than 30 days before the document referred to in section 7 is issued, make public the information set out in paragraphs
(1)(a) to (e).102 Subsection 8.1(3) of the Act is replaced by the following:
30 days to make information public
(3) The Minister must, not later than 30 days after the day on which a document is issued under subsection 7(1), make public the information set out in paragraphs (1)(a)
to (e).

Several times, people have called in missing persons reports after family or friends disappear, leaving abandoned cars or children and pets waiting. It only became clear what happened when they popped up in ICE’s locator. Now, they’ll simply disappear, potentially to never be heard from again

It’s easy to gloss past this because of all of Carney’s privatization moves. His repeated use of colonial “founders” in his speeches is curious. Even Trudeau acknowledged that Canada was older than confederation during his 150 speeches. Why is Carney talking about white “heroes” so much?

Mark has spent so long without interacting with normal people. He tries to make a list of things superintelligence can do, and it’s (1) cure diseases, (2) business hacks. Dude, I don’t need new business ideas. I need the world not to fall apart around my children.
Invention, not automation, will be the greatest contribution of superintelligence.
Early Al coul'answer questions and do routine work. Soon it will increasingly help discover new knowledge -- ranging from discovering new drugs to cure a family member's disease to finding new ways to improve your business. While the number of questions a person can ask in a day is limited, the number of valuable things superintelligence can invent to help achieve your goals is unlimited.
