The last time I heard from my mom was when she sent me a package of every childhood photo of me torn out of the albums she spent years making and put the "It's a girl" card she got from the hospital when I was born on top. (I am a trans guy that's almost 40) But ah yes, the children are the problem.

I assume anyone who points out how small the trans population is doesn’t know any trans people & I guess that’s what it takes to care? Because if you know even ONE trans person, like a person in your life, how can you think about that person and conclude it’s okay if they get thrown under the bus?

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

S..

@SMohyeddin • 10h = NATIONAL POST None of this applies, however, when a Jewish person presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community. When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from causing harm. Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a "mosar" — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a "rodef," refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a jew is duty-bound to step in. Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing. 244

This change in C-39 jumped out at me: it rewrites s. 8.1(3) of the Building Canada Act so key information on a "national interest" project can be made public up to 30 days *after* it’s authorized. Right now, that information has to be published at least 30 days *before* authorization. 🤔
30 days to make information public
(3) The Minister must, not later than 30 days before the document referred to in section 7 is issued, make public the information set out in paragraphs
(1)(a) to (e).102 Subsection 8.1(3) of the Act is replaced by the following:
30 days to make information public
(3) The Minister must, not later than 30 days after the day on which a document is issued under subsection 7(1), make public the information set out in paragraphs (1)(a)
to (e).

So many relationships could have had better ends (or maybe even survived) with a bit of attachment theory, compromise, connection, and community sympathy (rather than chastisement). Can we please be more skeptical? And celebrate interdependence rather than demonize it?

I've seen an incredible amount of queer relationships among friends devolve into toxicity over self-blame, internalized shame, navel-gazing self-interest, and refusing to provide community support to others and I directly blame the influence of this self-help trash.

It’s easy to gloss past this because of all of Carney’s privatization moves. His repeated use of colonial “founders” in his speeches is curious. Even Trudeau acknowledged that Canada was older than confederation during his 150 speeches. Why is Carney talking about white “heroes” so much?

Mark has spent so long without interacting with normal people. He tries to make a list of things superintelligence can do, and it’s (1) cure diseases, (2) business hacks. Dude, I don’t need new business ideas. I need the world not to fall apart around my children.
Invention, not automation, will be the greatest contribution of superintelligence.
Early Al coul'answer questions and do routine work. Soon it will increasingly help discover new knowledge -- ranging from discovering new drugs to cure a family member's disease to finding new ways to improve your business. While the number of questions a person can ask in a day is limited, the number of valuable things superintelligence can invent to help achieve your goals is unlimited.
