The hunger
Well we just got back from stringing up our weakest
friend in the middle of the town square for the
vampires to feast on overnight. No one liked the
actual doing of it when it came to doing it I’ll say that.
But the past is the past. Time now to hunker down
inside and wait for them to leave us alone for good.
Figure out tomorrow what to do with all these surplus
wooden crosses.

Finally for better or for worse, there is no Biden without the protest of 2020. I know that it's impossible now for people to remember anything but that's a fact. All of the people now moonwalking away from a concrete policy demand would do well to remember this. Take care everyone.

One more interesting point: this spring I sat down with Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes for an extensive interview about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media has unquestionably aided the Trump administration’s cover up here.

"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.

There have got to be serious consequences for participating in public corruption like this. Soliciting a corrupt service from a government official should be a major big boy felony that puts the entire corporate board in prison for a long time. It cannot be something corps even want to try.

t took me a while to realise what the man sitting next to me on the train was doing. He was flicking through pictures of a little girl on his phone; zooming in on some, cropping the images. Hardly unusual, of course, except that on closer inspection the pictures were very clearly of the toddler sitting opposite us, playing with her parents. On a crowded train of people mostly staring obliviously at our own phones, a stranger had been covertly photographing that little girl over and over again. And if it hadn’t been for that very visible phone screen giving him away, he wouldn’t have been caught.

I can't remember which show I was at when I realized I liked the same music as white nationalists. I know it was at Washington DC's Fight Club, partly because my recollection of the night is lit in flickering orange - I've spent a lot of time in a lot of shit hole venues, but Fight Club was the only one whose attendees regularly lit fires in trash cans to keep warm. The moment wasn't particularly dramatic. A slender little skinhead who had been pogoing unobtrusively enough in the pit peeled off his shirt, revealing a swastika tattoo between his shoulder blades; another man's voice hollered "NAZI PUNKS FUCK OFF"; two much bigger skinheads immediately marched Swastika Shoulders out of sight, looking like a pair of bouncers ejecting a drunk.Based on what I remember of the few skinheads who remained in DC through the aughts, Swastika Shoulders surely got his ass beat that night. If so, it didn't even interrupt the show.
The path that opened to facilitate his exit sealed over again right away. I have to talk about it as if it had been triggered by a motion sensor rather than the movements of individual people
- that's how automated it seemed. We were a long way from Jimmy Pursey's feeble attempts to shut down National Front battle formations, that was for sure. Punk sectarianism had by no means been resolved by the aughts, but there was perfect clarity by then about how to deal with at least one sect.

I’m interested in any political imagination for accountability. It has to be proactive & retroactive. It has to be spectacular. And, ideally, it would leave so many of them broke that it actually becomes a deterrent. Being poor is truly all they care about not because they don’t care about prison.

October 9, 2023 I'm reminded of Twain on the Reign of Terror, and Engles on social murder, and Michael Brooks on "the complex issue" www.welcometohellworld.com/being-made-t...
I think it should go without saying that I abhor war crimes against civilians even in what I consider to be a just cause of liberation. And Palestinians yearning for escape from decades of oppression and confinement and apartheid is indeed a just cause.

I also think that it is very convenient that the dominant power in any given conflict almost always gets to commit their own war crimes from a remove via blockade and sanction or missile and bomb. Each resulting individual civilian death observed from an abstract sanitized distance in the form of a building collapsing. Being made to collapse.

A lot of people are wedded to this idea that it’s somehow so much worse to be brutalized or killed by a man standing there in front of you than by a pressed button or pulled lever. Or to be systematically killed by laws and policies of indifference or outright malevolence.

Is shooting a man in the head more or less just than locking him in your basement without food or water? Surely he'll live somewhat longer in the latter scenario but he will nonetheless surely die. Having been killed.

So yes of course I abhor violence. I simply wonder why we are being press-ganged into a moral jury for one kind of violence and not the countless other examples of the more invisible kind. Invisible to those of us observing from afar that is. The killings that aren't even really happening if you squint just so.

New from me: flaminghydra.com/issue-602/
Fascism, to borrow a line from a friend, is a politics of action. There is no intellectual basis for its precepts but that does not mean its campaigns are executed without strategy. Fascism is all strategy and no goals. Indeed, fascists are far less constrained in strategic terms than their enemies are, because a fascist need never interrogate the morality, legality, or even the rationality of a given tactic so long as it serves some immediate end; it's the rest of us who are left to ask whether violence is permissible and whose voices ought to be heard and respected within our coalition and whether we ought to acknowledge land theft, and these are the things that assholes like to make fun of or condemn as "cancel culture." But they are also a source of community and strength and inclusion and, crucially, foresight. What do the fascists plan to do after they round up and exterminate all the Jewish and Black and brown and disabled and homeless and queer and leftist people? Will there be layoffs at the death camps? You can already see a yawning imaginative void among tradwife influencers and right-wing movie directors, for whom utopia is a matter of stapling together 1950's advertising imagery and the early Spielberg movies. There's no vision of the future, only a bowdlerized past that can't be recovered, not least because it never existed. There was never an America where Haitians couldn't cross the border.

A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user Jeff Barker (@JeffBarkermedia) announcing his resignation from The Baltimore Sun.

The text of the post reads: "I've resigned from The Baltimore Sun after 25 years of politics and sports reporting. I was proud to have been there during a long period when our reporting followed the facts wherever they happened to lead. I'm not saying anything readers can't see for themselves, but The Sun has changed since its purchase by David Smith, executive chairman of the Sinclair Broadcast Group. I no longer fit there. I'm grateful to the sources whose trust enabled me to report responsibly, and to the readers who supported our work. I'm exploring new opportunities inside and outside journalism. My DMs are open."

Handwritten notecard. Prompt at the top asks: What object was most devastating for you to lose, and how have you been coping? Answer below: Dentures. Were thrown away and coping isn't somthing I can do. It’s made me feel ugly, unworthy, can’t go get a job with no teeth. So how can get off the streets until another pair can be made?
