My wife only reads literary fiction called stuff like “Heart Meat” and “Fugitive Body.” The kind that makes you feel like you’re getting beaten up. She just finished a book she did not like and handed it to me and said “Here, you’ll love this, the lesbians get everything they’ve ever wanted.”

A side effect of editing other people's writing is that you begin to realize how much the brain seeks out repetition. In prose, reusing words can be distracting and a missed opportunity for expansion, specificity, and a particular music, but it can be effective when done with care, in any form

I don't think I have ever actually been in a Panda Express before (and I think I picked it here because an earlier draft of this post mentioned being "expressive," and that's how my brain works), but this Panda Express is global and we're all in it whether we want to be or not

I think Covid-conscious people should claim and continue saying, "We're still in a pan-whatever," because it was true then and it's true now, we're still in a Panda Express and as long as we're not supposed to talk about it we should just keep saying it, in as many variations as possible

It’s so cute to see everyone having fun with this, you might enjoy the other story about Covid this morning, about a young mom with long covid who killed herself, possibly partially because her husband describes it as her being “obsessed” with her health and “refusing” to get out of bed. imo that’s why more spaces adopting even sOme layers of mitigation make a huge difference—so catch up, yeah? we’re in the big 2026, where fascism & eugenics are state policy & the safety nets fray by the day. taking care of each other in our joy sustains us for the long haul—& we’re gonna need it.

last thing i’ll say: it’s the furthest thing from “entitled” to ask that one of last spaces who not only understands but takes a swing at centering a specific kind of accessibility continue to honor that. access needs are not entitlement. conversely, we should ALL value—& are entitled to—clean air.

When disabled people oppose Assisted Dying, it’s almost never from a religious point of view. It’s not because we’re anti-choice or that we want to force people to suffer. We oppose it because society devalues disabled lives and uses these programs in an unethical manner. They become eugenics. 🧵
