SO much love for the covid cautious spaces that maintain their shared principles under enormous pressure to capitulate. When organizers commit to accessibility they send the message that the participation of disabled agitators is understood as critical.

It’s so cute to see everyone having fun with this, you might enjoy the other story about Covid this morning, about a young mom with long covid who killed herself, possibly partially because her husband describes it as her being “obsessed” with her health and “refusing” to get out of bed. Funny, yeah?

imo that’s why more spaces adopting even sOme layers of mitigation make a huge difference—so catch up, yeah? we’re in the big 2026, where fascism & eugenics are state policy & the safety nets fray by the day. taking care of each other in our joy sustains us for the long haul—& we’re gonna need it.

last thing i’ll say: it’s the furthest thing from “entitled” to ask that one of last spaces who not only understands but takes a swing at centering a specific kind of accessibility continue to honor that. access needs are not entitlement. conversely, we should ALL value—& are entitled to—clean air.

totally sucks to log back on after driving across the country to see so much hate levied at the action of masking specifically, not to mention the people who are desperate for the very few places (it’s literally named last ditch people) still safe if not encouraging toward those who wear them.

When disabled people oppose Assisted Dying, it’s almost never from a religious point of view. It’s not because we’re anti-choice or that we want to force people to suffer. We oppose it because society devalues disabled lives and uses these programs in an unethical manner. They become eugenics. 🧵
