TREMORS, to me is a perfect B-movie. It's fun, it takes itself just seriously enough that you care about the characters, the parched desert photography looks great, and you can tell that the actors enjoyed doing it.

Sure I was too cool for several issues of action at the Malt Shoppe but the deliberate goofiness makes the nasty aspects more visceral - the scene with Magneto finding out that one of his charges has died and everyone screaming at each other is one of the best in the run

It took awhile but after some searching yesterday I unearthed these panels I remember reading in the actual newspaper at the time. July 7/8, 2003

Nancy strip where Nancy and Fritzi are talking, but Fritzi's wearing a shirt that says "Have you forgotten?", there's a TV nearby or computer monitor with Sean Hannity mugging the camera, says "Freedom Concert", with two spare pieces of paper, one says "raising money for the families of our" and "fallen military heroes"

Nancy strip on the phone with Sluggo, says "Aunt Fritzi bought three tickets to the big FREEDOM CONCERT Friday night... wanna go with us Sluggo?" "Sluggo says "Freedom concert? Sure". Nancy is in front of a big poster that says "Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert" then a massive photo of Charlie Daniels. Says "Starring Charlie Daniels Band, Sara Evans, Darryl Worley, Oliver North"
