Photo of Cllr Claire Miller with a quote that reads, "I'm delighted that my motion was agreed today so that the council can take steps to collect all overdue non-domestic rates.
The scale of the problem of phoenixing, (closing down companies leaving debts unpaid), and non payment of rates in the capital is outrageous. I’m sure that law-abiding, tax-paying businesses around Edinburgh will be appalled at the unfairness."

The council is consulting on whether to grant access to vehicles to the rear of Greenside Church and house, as this is common good land. While this is a bit of a niche issue I'm sure there will be some who would want to feed in their views consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/cg/greenside/
A map shows the Greenside Church and house with a red boundary line, and a green outlined and shaded area to indicate the vehicular access that is proposed across common good land.

Another case of bus stop rationalisation! This time my initial reaction is to think it's maybe OK, but I'd be grateful for feedback either way, and if there are any concerns I am happy to raise them.
Screen cap of a portion of a technical drawing. The map shows London Road and the side road of Hillside Crescent. A callout box says "Wellington Street bus stop and build-out removed to support bus flow and improve cycle lane continuity".Screen cap of a portion of a technical drawing. The map shows London Road and the junction with side road Brunton Terrace (although on the map it is named Burton Place which is presumably an error). There is a zoomed in section showing a bus stop with a build out. The call out label says "New pavement build-out that will provide more space around the busy inbound Brunton Place bus stop".

It is completely dishonest of the government to use the legitimate concerns of job security and the cost of living to falsely justify new fossil fuel extraction. It’s time they side with the public, not oil and gas executives and their shareholders. Say NO to Jackdaw

It's me, I'm 'edinburgh cllrs'. I'll be proposing this motion at our next full council meeting. I'm deeply concerned by both investigations and whether businesses are paying their full non-domestic rates. I very much hope to get support from other councillors so that we can get clarity.

@spokes.org.uk I contacted council officers with my concerns about this when it was initially built and wanted to follow up to let you know the response I received.
Good morning

Can I please request that the northbound cycle lane along Forrest Road / Greyfriars Place / George IV Bridge, at the pavement build out which has been inserted at the Greyfriars Bobby statue, is urgently instated with lane defenders

Many thanks, ClaireIn relation to your request for lane defenders to be installed at the pavement build-out by the Greyfriars Bobby statue, a road safety audit was undertaken as part of the works. This identified the need to add additional signage. Although this was not initially in place, the contractor subsequently did install the signage. There was also re-lining undertaken to ensure that a full metre of carriageway was maintained.

Whilst we recognise the importance of scrutinising the measures in place, we are satisfied with the process followed and do not consider it necessary to change the current measure.

To end rough sleeping you need to fund domestic violence shelters, mental health services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programmes, let people seeking asylum work, and increase welfare spending.

If Andy Burnham wants to end rough sleeping he will need to change his approach to No Recourse to Public Funds, which enforces destitution, and is the single biggest cause of rough sleeping (in Scotland, anyway). But that would seem at odds with his support for the asylum bill last week.
