You’d never know from reading the @nytimes.com that a blockade is an act of war. That this is a war of aggression. That suddenly depriving millions of people of safe drinking water is a war crime. That this unprecedented humanitarian disaster was deliberately engineered by Donald Trump for leverage.

Finding BBC and #r4today analysis of Trump’s insults of Starmer to be bizarre. Why are we even considering what Trump said? It’s meaningless. Genuinely. Not even Trump knows what he means. The story is - Starmer stood firm and acted in the national interest. Trump threw some toys out of his pram.

💢 Suspected U.S.–Israeli strikes in Iraq killed at least eight fighters from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), the Iraqi force that helped defeat ISIS, according to reporting Monday. The attacks were not formally attributed, and no group immediately claimed responsibility.

Here’s what the Associated Press reported:

➤ The deadliest strike hit a PMF checkpoint in Anbar province, killing six fighters and wounding four others, Iraqi officials said.

➤ Two additional PMF fighters were killed in a separate strike on a PMF brigade headquarters in the same region.

➤ The PMF was formed in 2014 after a call to arms by Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani that urged Iraqi citizens to defend the country against the Islamic State (ISIS) after the fall of Mosul. PMF was incorporated into Iraq’s armed forces in 2016, though some factions operate semi-independently and are closely aligned with Iran.

➤ Earlier Monday, the Iran-aligned Kataib Hezbollah militia said senior security official Abu Ali al-Askari had also been killed, without giving details on the circumstances.

🔹Other attacks:
1. Separately, a drone struck Baghdad’s Rasheed Hotel inside the fortified Green Zone, damaging the top floor of a building that houses diplomatic delegations and international organizations, but causing no casualties.

2. 🎥 Video | Two drones also struck Iraq’s Majnoon oil field in Basra province, hitting a communications tower and the office of the U.S. engineering firm KBR, with no casualties reported.
