Sex Education and the Singing Street: the thread about Albion Road and Norton Park Schools
These days it's a very successful business centre for the third sector, but for much of its life Norton Park was a Junior Secondary school. Here, pupils written off by the state were sent to serve their time, whether they liked it or not, before entering the workforce. But amongst its sadistic woodwork teachers were some pioneering educators, who introduced Swedish Dance, Sex Education, the Gaelic language and film-making to students. Norton Park was the school of the Singing Street and the Golden City.
