Just back in from a buckshee dinner at Sloan's in the Argyll Arcade/Morrison's Court, which has launched a new upstairs fine dining room, called 'The Merchants'; food/service/staff/ambience all en-point. Etching: Morrison's Court, early 1900s, by Glasgow-born artist Thomas Bonar Lyon (1873-1955)

Nice, today, to bump into my late art teacher mum's old friend, David Ross Warrillow. David paints remarkably detailed still-lifes, but for a few years, in the 1980s, he did a brilliant series of tenement paintings. Pic: Corner of Henderson St and Mount St, Maryhill (The Fleming Collection).

A very quiet day on Byres Road, with the architects Campbell Douglas & Stevenson's 1862 Kelvinside Free Church - today's Oran Mor - standing sentinel like, with Buckingham Terrace keeking over its shoulder. My thanks to muso mate, and Prince o' Partick, Allan Tall, for sharing this wonderful image.

A nice addition outside Glasgow Uni's Advanced Research Centre, a clock honouring the International Workers of the World - the Wobblies. The hands are clogs because the French for clogs is 'sabots' - the root of 'sabotage'. Throw one of them into the works, and the machine grinds to a halt.
