Think it's important to grasp that when people like Ovenden use phrases like "rapidly medicalised layabouts" they get a little thrill like they're daring to break taboos, but actually they're repeating the tiresome but orthodox belief of their coterie. (Cf his treatment of Diane Abbott.)
