DID YOU KNOW you can have heart conditions where "sudden death" is a possible outcome and be a licensed pilot but you absolutely cannot have any mental health condition that can be adequately managed with medication?

conclusions: - god *damn* those are some heavy controls - i could absolutely do this for real (with more training, obviously) and *would* do so in a heartbeat if only the FAA would get their heads out of their asses concerning certain aeromedical factors

This is the funniest thing I've seen today, possibly ever
A tweet by SarahStarberry that says "oh god read the vertical axis" on top of a chart measuring AI models' release dates and model numbers rather than any real capabilities

I know the @python.org community raised about the amount we'd missed out on in donations on the back of that, but countless other orgs can't activate in the same way

In the late 00s on Twitter people would literally post what they ate for breakfast (usually without including themselves as the subject of the sentence) or they would say things like “San Francisco I am in you” and actually meet new friends that way?

[A meme with a yellow background and a pink border. The top left: a cut-out of a screaming person with a shaved head beside three blue stars. The bottom right features a cut-out of a person in a red hoodie covering their face with one hand. Black text reads: "Stop trying to make me consume A.I Slop I like the Garbage i consume online to be made from the minds of neurodivergent shitposters". it’s amazing to me that first apple invented the least lossy user interface ever (multi-touch) — where you interact with software controls *directly* & instantly and now the next “big thing” is writing text instructions, the slowest, most disintermediated and lossy way possible

they COULD design their app to make it actually serve the customer, with an easy “reorder” button that would duplicate the order exactly without error it would be: 1. utterly reliable 2. faster 3. cheaper so much “ai” is a sloppy patch for learned helplessness at the corporate level

I am not joking when I say this. Spotify, Apple Music, and streaming in general is over. Bandcamp Fridays is now very, very good. You don't know yet because all Bandcamp Friday bangers circulating today is from 2-3 sales ago. Bandcamp Fridays et al has solved infinite bangers.

I subscribe to 500 Songs because: a) it's a truly great piece of 20th century social history writing b) getting to watch A Quality Autistic Creative Project playing out in real time that makes me feel more comfortable in my own inability to predict the length or frequency of my own creative output.

our only connection to the main bike network in Petaluma is down a 30mph road where people routinely drive at 40mph, with no shoulder and poor visibility, being able to surge beyond 20mph is what makes it safe for us to ride our e-bikes at all in a car-brained area Otherwise, yes, very much agree

LAX famously has difficulty with signs.
A blue, slightly cloudy sky in the background. There's a row of airport landing lights forming a leading diagonal line, and a 737 is on approach with landing gear down. In the foreground is a sign saying "TO AIRPORT", with an arrow pointing up.

The airport is on the ground, the planes are in the sky. Silly LAX.
