Kiddo's Gambit costume is coming along nicely. I finished the pink quilted muscles and mask thingy. Now I just have to figure out how to tailor a trenchcoat. NBD, right?! 😬 I'm just making this all up as I go. I can barely use a sewing machine, although getting better with practice.
A photo of a kid wearing a black t-shirt that has a hot pink & blue chestplate sewn on the front. The chestplate is mostly pink and quilted to look like a muscular male torso. At the top of the chestplate is a dark blue decoration that kind of resembles a bib. There is a matching blue border or the bottom of the chestplate. The child's also wearing a black bellaclava like mask with the top cut off and their hair spilling out. The mask is cut to frame the face but cover the cheeks and forehead while fitting tight under the chin. The bottom of the mask covers the neck and shoulders. The child's face is obscured. A photo of the child from the previous post wearing the muscle shirt and mask as well as an oversized brown trenchcoat. The photo is taken at an angle to show the shape of the mask on the face. It covers the cheeks, sides and back of the head, but the ears are exposed. The child's face is obscured.

Hey folks, this is Marcy. She grew up down the road from me in NB (and now also lives in Halifax!) Her mother and my grandmother were good friends. Read her story and, if you can, make a donation to help her reach her goal. fundraise.yourrideforcancer.ca/fundraisers/...
Marcy standing in front of a poster of herselfThe Ride for Cancer is THIS SATURDAY. ❤️

At some point, I decided to set a completely ridiculous fundraising goal of $25,000.

And thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, and community, I’m at $22,685.

Which means I’m only $2,315 away.

The ride is personal for me. I know what it feels like to hear the words you have cancer. Fear, waiting, appointments, treatment...and how much it matters to have access to the best possible care.

This year, it means something different.

In August, I lost my mom to cancer. I would give anything for her story to have ended differently.

So on Saturday, when I get on my bike, I’ll be riding as a cancer survivor and as a daughter who lost her mother to cancer.

And I really, really want to see if we can get that number to $25,000.

If you’ve been thinking about donating, this is my final shameless ask. Whether it’s $10, $25, $50 or more, it all gets me a little closer.

$2,315 to go.

I was ALL over downtown today looking for some very specific items & at all but 1 spot* I managed to park right at the door, for free. Biking isn't for everyone, but when it works, it works. *this was my mistake because I didn't know there was a bike rack closer than the one I chose.

If the Nova Scotia government actually cared about protecting kids, they’d go after the companies selling illegal electric devices and marketing them to minors instead of criminalizing the kids
Mayor Zohran Mamdani has submitted cease-and-desist letters to 42 corporations, including Temu, Target, and Amazon, for selling illegal high-speed e-bikes and e-scooters to New Yorkers.
This comes one week after a 17-year-old New York resident was fatally struck by an SUV while riding an e-bike capable of reaching over 30 miles per hour-double the 15 mph speed limit for e-bikes in New York City.
Emergency room visits from electric scooter and e-bike accidents for children and adolescents have increased 671% since 2023.
"It is the responsibility of retailers to only sell the vehicles permissible under New York law in our city,"
Mayor Mamdani said.
