This money is absolutely meaningless to Elon Musk, but it has the potential to completely rewrite your future. He's spent over $36 million in about 4 weeks, and he's adding millions a day. All to corrupt our government to push his agenda. Let your friends know what's up.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

I was lucky to spot this Ruby-throated Hummingbird on a branch yesterday keeping an eye on the feeders. He has the tiniest red feather on his chest and slowly fluffed out his feathers in the cool wind. Today I saw 2 and didn't want to startle them with the camera. The food court is open. 🪶 #borbs

Vietor: That stopped me in my tracks. A great politician talks about who they are, where they come from, and how their bio informs the things they care about and fight for. I thought it was really powerful and hopefully can cut through in a way that usually interviews don't.

Surprisingly Ted Bundy was competent in his defense and the judge said under different circumstances he would have been a good attorney. With that being said, Bundy did have some legal education.

trowawufei

Interesting, I’ve read that Bundy made a really big mistake in representing himself and the jury was freaked out by him. It might’ve been a good strategy if he could somehow Mrs. Doubtfire himself and pretend to be a different person, but IRL, his behavior during the trial had to play well as both the attorney and the accused. So if his attorney displayed charisma and superficial charm, that’s one thing, but when he does it, the jury thinks “yeah, he could definitely use that to trick women into falling for his trap”.

Nervous-Economy8119

I think his big mistake was killing all those people. That’s the reason he lost.

So camouflage, specialized nose-based echolocation to navigate dense jungles allow the leaf-nosed bats of the Americas to feed and not be fed upon *most of the time*. Lots of them also make little foliage tents to hide in, but I'll save that for another thread! (📷: Bat Conservation International)
Fun Fact: The Honduran white bat is the first mammalian species known to incorporate carotenoids (a class of red, orange and yellow pigments found in plants) in their skin. The bright yellow color of their wings, ears, and nose comes from a yellow carotenoid pigment called lutein, which is probably attained by the bat’s diet of figs.

Honduran white bats are found only in Central America, ranging from Honduras through parts of eastern Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and western Panama. Also sometimes called the Honduran White Tent-making Bat, these small, Leaf-nosed Bats roost in leaf ‘tents’. Using their teeth, the bats cut along the ribs of Heliconia leaves to create a folded tent-like structure. Colonies tend to be small, with bats roosting in groups of two to 15 individuals.

One of the two smallest Frugivorous Bat species in the world, Honduran white bats feast on figs, particularly one species of fig (Ficus Colubrinae). Likely as a result of this specialization, Honduran white bats have relatively large home ranges compared to other larger, fruit-eating bat species. The bats also prefer to forage on trees that are close to their roosts and may spend all night eating at a tree.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

evening at the cat office (2025)
2025 full color commission
portrait of a cat office at evening

in a dimly lit wooden study, a black long haired cat sits at a desk beginning needlework. She wears a plaid suit and sits in a sturdy chair, her tail wrapping around the frame of the desk. on her desk is a table cloth, and a top that is a whirring fan, a rotary phone, two books, a sake bottle and cup. A short hair siamese cat brings a steaming cup of tea. He wears a grey sweater with a red collar and cuff, and his tail sticks up energetically behind him.

we need to foster a sense of curiosity in this country. too many people in america would rather stay mad at a question than find out what the answer is. example: fox started a parroted talking point that El-Sayed is “a fake doctor; an MD.” and they’re repeating it without googling what an MD is.

just for a moment can i direct your attention to these fine specimens i saw today
i believe this is an amanita muscaria. white stalk mushroom, bright red head with white dots nicely spaced in the red. looks like a cartoon mushroom, like the same way all pizzas in cartoons are pepperoni pizzas, all mushrooms in cartoons are these guysmore amanitas. like 7 or 8 of various sizes in a couple clusters3 amanitas, 2 are smaller & more round, the third looks older, color not as bright, edges splitmore amanitas! on these ones there’s a bit of an orange outer ring type vibe going on, at least on the bigger flatter ones. i wonder if the little round ones and the big flat ones are the same type or if it’s two types here

The fish crow grew out of it & got integrated into a group by a body of water. Sheryl is definitely an American Crow though. And she is younger than Lil Peep by a few months. So she may yet develop further independence & make friends with a local group of crows.

There are definitely crows everywhere here, there's just not a group that stays right in the yard around the house like with the bluejays. She was too young to fledge when she was turned over me to deal with injuries. She's friendly with me, but not obsessed with me like a fish crow I raised before.

I wish I could find a group of crows for Sheryl. I keep putting peanuts out for everybody, so maybe one will show up. She hangs out with the bluejays sometimes, but a lot of the time she's just fucking around in a tree making weird sounds by herself.

I think I have successfully integrated Lil Peep into a pod of wild bluejays. He hasn't been coming back at night, I think he's sleeping in their group. He still shows up each morning for breakfast & fresh water, then goes right back out to do bluejay screams in the yard with the wild ones.
