Lil Peep now apparently has a hummingbird setting. #birds

I have a bird daughter too. And now all the other birds on my property get weirdly close to me. I guess Sheryl and Lil Peep voucher for me.

Those are the same sounds I'm gonna make if I ever get electricity at my house again. My god, it's been a week! #birds

The power is out, but I charged up a lamp for them. It is definitely past their bedtime, but the hurricane sounds seem to be making them restless. #birds

Little late for it now, but FYI they make inflatable water storage cubes so you can store them in a closet & then pull them out for a storm. I tell everyone I know about them, they save so much space vs having to keep a bunch of emergency jugs on hand.

An inflatable water storage cube meant to store water in emergencies like extended power outages.

Uh, I think that might be one of them big ass wood borer beetles? Peep is going to have to swallow so many rocks to process & digest that. Yikes. #birds

She gets so weird about her feet being touched that sometimes she brushes them up against something and just kinda loses her shit with some sort of....snake trampling maneuver? #birds

She literally goes out this same door *every morning* by herself! Usually she lands somewhere low & let's me put her on my arm to come back inside at dusk to sleep. It would really be nice if she would finally unlock how to come & go without my assistance. #birds

Corvids definitely seem to love chasing style games in my experience. Lil Peep loves to play "grab the bluejay." And I oblige because it seems like good practice for agility & predator evasion outdoors. That's Sheryl in the background, she does that anytime Peep leaves the room. She's obsessed.

She does this every time I'm outside. It's so hard to catch on camera because she waits til my back is turned and I'm walking away. She makes a stupid little sound every time she passes me. It makes me laugh every time. #birds

#birds Sheryl always drops hers. Lil Peep just goes apeshit for grapes and watermelon. Nothing makes him happier than a piece of sugary fruit.

Can you believe he looked like this just 4 months ago?

A tiny young bluejay in a tiny fabric nest, held in a human hand.

A grumpy baby bluejay in the folds of a brown towel and wood shavings in a box.

They are absolutely charming af. I raised one that fell out of a nest & got picked up by a guy's dog & thankfully wasn't seriously injured. I call him Lil Peep, he goes outside during the day but comes back at night to sleep. He also comes when I call him in the yard.
