Are people in England really concerned where big, bland international brands are brewed? Seems like their regular customers aren’t interested in a high-quality beer. And those interested in good beer may actually want something made closer to home.

So, Americans have apparently been calling glass mugs “steins” for much longer than I had thought. This is from 1934.

I wish more American brewers would ditch the Mexican Lager label and release stuff like this. I get it. It doesn’t sell as good as “Mexican Lager”. That’s a shame. The BA assertion from decades ago that American Adjunct Lager is trash really had a lasting impact, for the worse.

For the two plus decades that I’ve been into beer, cask has had the warm/flat PR problem. It’s so old and tiring, and it’s crazy we haven’t figured out a way to get past it. I even overheard a knowledgeable person describe it this way recently. Let’s shut it down once and for all. 🙏

20 yrs ago, ppl watched the Sopranos & loved Italian Americans. They said “gabagool”. Now, they say, “it’s actually capicola”, & “they actually don’t eat spaghetti & meatballs in Italy.” Right. They eat spaghetti, then meatballs. Totally different. Thx to SM, everything Italian Americans do is wrong

It was always my understanding that calling a half and half beer with Guinness in it as a “Black and Tan” in Ireland was offensive. Has this just been another ignorant American idea?

1/3 US craft brewers largely avoided making lager for a long time in an attempt to distance itself from domestic, mass produced swill. The mass produced swill was actually expertly brewed adjunct lager. The kind of lager US breweries have been making since the 1800s and brought to Mexico.
