In exciting gaming news (for me), I just hit base 90s in OldSchool RuneScape, and am only 100 total levels away from maxing my account! I may be a kickass politician, but I'm also pretty good at my medieval point-and-click MMO. 😤

Literary fiction is coming. It is going to revolutionize the economy. We know that China has already got a start on literary fiction. We can’t afford to be left out of the literary fiction economy. Think of your kids. They might already be engaging with literary fiction.

The media gave more coverage to a totally fake, invented idea that the federal government was withholding aid to Hurricane Helene victims in 2024 than to Trump actually doing it in 2025/26. Why did the fake story get more coverage than the real one?

Another day, another impeachable offense: The White House ordered federal agencies to block resources to Colorado because it had punished an election denier. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/14/u...
As President Trump fumed late last year over Colorado's imprisonment of Tina Peters, a convicted election denier, a White House special assistant organized an urgent "brainstorm call."
The goal, outlined in an email sent to officials at five federal agencies, was to "prioritize Colorado for the purposes of ensuring grants and federal support are in line with administration priorities," the assistant, Emily Underwood, wrote on Dec.
15.
"Please come prepared to discuss immediate actions that your department or agency can take with respect to Colorado," Ms. Underwood added.
The next day, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy, whose representatives were invited to the brainstorm, announced they were canceling hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants for Colorado projects.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. Close up on Quark, a Ferengi guy with a smooth and domed head that kind of looks like a butt and huge exaggerated earlobes that connect like a unibrow across his forgead. He also has nose loaf that kind of looks like a pine cone. He is pursing his mouth and doing a 'Jim from The Office' look to camera. Closed caption reads, "baseball, root beer, darts, atom bombs."

Kiros has tapped into the national discontent for incumbents among Democratic voters and parlayed her social media savviness into a campaign that has DeGette’s supporters incredibly nervous

Van Hollen is right: Israel is guilty of ethnic cleansing, apartheid, & genocide against the Palestinian people. US officials, under Biden and Trump, who have aided and abetted these crimes by providing taxpayer dollars, bombs and political support to Israel have no place in future administrations.
Democrats must stand firm against these headwinds. Primary voters won't trust any Democratic presidential candidate who does not have a record of moral and strategic clarity on these issues, especially if, as a legislator, he or she voted to send Mr. Netanyahu bombs even as his overnment imposed a total blockade on
Gaza. Nor will they support a candidate who plans to re-enlist the senior Democratic decision makers who whitewashed the truth during the Biden administration and refuse to acknowledge their complicity.

do think one of the big problems of the era is that a lot of mainstream politicians have forgotten that you just can't convince everyone; the point of successful electoral politics is to convince the people you can convince and to *defeat the rest*

Look at that, something good out of the state leg. These kinds of green thermal power solutions are going to be a huge help in providing green base-load electricity. Plus, building them takes a lot of the same skills as a fracking well or any conventional power plant, so those folks get new jobs.

In a First for the U.S., Renewables Generate More Power Than Natural Gas
In March, for the first time, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the transition to clean power. However, rising power demand is complicating the shift away from fossil fuels by extending the lives of many aging coal power plants.

If we stopped using Colorado River water to irrigate alfalfa and pasture land for beef production, we would not be in a water crisis. Not buying beef is the lowest-effort thing you can do for the largest environmental benefit.

Kirk was a priviledged member of the conservative media class. He was "supposed" to be insulated from any effects of his actions because he was an aristocrat. Soldiers are predominently working-class, their lives don't matter to conservative imperialists, and their deaths are all part of the plan.
