Every single adult human *could* choose kindness. In case you’re wondering why human society is so cruel; our choices literally make our society. And when we happily choose violence against nonhuman animals, expect violence against human animals too. We are all #animals, in the end. #vhemt #vegan

It's finally time! Always my first bloom; Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) in the forest. I can breed them indoors, the minute I put them out unguarded....eaten. I shall continue to enjoy them in their natural environment until I figure out the secret plant keeping them safe in the wild.

A vertical photo along Lake Superior's icy shores. In the foreground, ice covered rocks for a u-shaped channel, revealing small boulders surrounded by small red rocks. Ice covered rocks extend towards a small island. The island is completely covered in ice, with several spindly pine trees growing from the center. Near the center of the island, two root beer colored ice formations are formed by water seeping out of the island. Above the island, the sky is filled with gray clouds, showing slight signs of gold sunlight.

On this day in 1987, Fraggle Rock aired its final episode after five seasons. Filmed in Toronto, using primarily Canadian puppeteers and cast, it remains a beloved show for many. Learn more in my Deep Dive 👇 buff.ly/joR6Xnd
Several characters from Fraggle Rock gathered around a garden-like setting with soil, ferns, and red radish-like vegetables. In the foreground, three small Fraggles with bright hair and colorful clothing stand among the plants; one with orange hair holds a large red radish. Behind them are three large Gorg characters: a shaggy beige Gorg leaning forward on the left, a tall purple Gorg wearing a metal crown in the center, and another Gorg in layered clothing standing to the right. The scene is brightly lit with a rocky structure and vines in the background, creating a whimsical, fantasy environment.

🌻 yellow trout lily 🌿 Erythronium americanum immature shoots have 1 leaf; flowering shoots have 2 leaves. a colony may have hundreds of shoots, only a small percentage blooming each year #nativeplants #ecoregion71
a blooming yellow trout lily growing on a bed of green moss. two long rubbery leaves, dappled light & brownish dark green, grow up from the base of the plant at a 45° angle. between the two leaves a flower stalk grows straight up before nodding around back towards the ground at the top. the flower is thus hanging, facing towards the ground. it has 6 bright yellow, long, triangular tepals. the outer 3 have a broad reddish stripe on the outside and strongly recurve, stretching skywards; the inner 3 tepals spread out sideways. six reddish brown anthers dangle below the flower from its center. this close-up doesn't look into the face of a blooming yellow trout lily, but across it. its three outer tepals recurve back so strongly their tips overlap behind the flower; the inner tepals are held out to the side, slightly overspread beyond forming a plane, and have a few maroon speckles near their base. hiding within the hollow at the center of the flower there is a green ovary with a long, bright yellow style with a thick 3-lobed stigma. six stamens hang around the style, tapering yellow filaments supporting long, wrinkly maroon anthers. some uniquely patterned green & brownish dark green trout lily leaves are blurry in the background above light brown fallen tree leaves.same flower as in the first pic with some more context. joining the flowering shoot on the bed of green moss and continuing into the background among a bed of fallen tree leaves, there are numerous single leaves sticking up to wave in the air. these individual leaves share the mottled green & brownish dark green pattern that presents on the two leaves of the flowering shoot. the singleton leaves tend to be a little smaller, however.
