NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.

The inquiry was closed last year because senior bureau officials questioned the veracity of a campaign donor’s account, according to current and former officials.

These are good to see. For the record, I'm actually even more confident on MI-8 (Safe Dem for me this year). I have FL-14 Lean Rep and MI-10 Tilt Dem, but maybe I'll end up more confident in the latter two in my next evaluation.

Wood's *Creation of the American Republic, 1776-1787* is probably one of my top 5 books in US History. It came out in 1969. I read it in grad school in the 1990s. I wanted my students to get a taste of it so I assigned a chapter in my US to 1865 class this past semester. uncpress.org/978080784723...

Trump asked Sean Hannity to serve as his intermediary in getting John Fetterman to switch parties, according to Politico. Hannity then conveyed Trump's offer of "more money than he ever dreamed of" to Fetterman the next day on his podcast. www.politico.com/news/magazin...
If Republicans can’t tolerate even Tillis, Fetterman suggested, how would they accept somebody who supports abortion rights, gay rights, legalizing marijuana and is pro-labor? (He flies the pride flag outside his Senate office.) Senate Republicans have reminded the Pennsylvanian that there are members of their conference who are more moderate on each of those issues.

Trump, who knows a thing or two about party switching, has also gotten in on the action. He’s told one GOP senator he prefers Fetterman making the full conversion to Republican, according to a source familiar with the conversation.

And Trump has said, if Fetterman does, he’d reciprocate. In his typical unsubtle fashion, the president conveyed as much to Sean Hannity in March and asked Hannity to play intermediary.

When Fetterman sat for an interview with the Fox host the next day, Hannity delivered the pitch, recounting Trump’s marching orders nearly verbatim.

“‘Your job is to tell him: He’s gonna run as a Republican, he’s gonna have our full support, more money than he ever dreamed of, and he’s gonna win big,’” Hannity told Fetterman, recalling Trump’s instructions.

Fetterman didn’t respond to Trump’s authorized offer, but, when asked how Democrats treat him, notably said: “They don’t mistreat me, but I think increasingly they’re suspicious or kinda standoffish.”

No the “anarchists in bloc” flocking in to fight ICE are very specifically interlopers. Minneapolis is being protected by ordinary neighbors using tactics that they are comfortable with and can learn. That’s why there are tens of thousands of people involved.
