Manchester City CEO Soriano says guilty verdicts are ‘a Premier League conspiracy theory’
* Soriano: the case is based on ‘a single false accusation’ * Club to appeal after verdict on more than 100 charges Manchester City’s chief executive, Ferran Soriano, has said the guilty verdicts against the club for breaches of financial rules are based on “a single false accusation” and a “Premier League conspiracy theory”, as he maintained City’s innocence. It was confirmed on Tuesday that City, according to an independent panel, had artificially inflated revenue and reduced costs by more than £900m over a nine-year period through “sham” sponsorship deals, which were mainly funded by Abu Dhabi United Group Investment & Development Ltd (ADUG), which owned the club. In a video sent to City staff after confirmation of the guilty verdict on more than 100 charges, Soriano said the club would appeal and fight the case. Continue reading...

📢 The PM'S promise to end the triple lock next parliament is good news for the public finances, and for the vulnerable pensioners who lose far more from a broken care system than they gain from a random ratchet on their pension ⤵️
Ruth Curtice, Chief Executive of the Resolution Foundation, said:
“The triple lock is a terribly designed policy that has cost far more than originally anticipated and yet failed to reduce pensioner poverty. The Prime Minister has been under pressure to show that he can take tough decisions on public spending – and scrapping the triple lock is a good way to demonstrate that.
“Recycling the savings from scrapping the triple lock into social care will especially help vulnerable pensioners who stand to lose far from a broken care system than they gain from a random ratchet on how the State Pension is increased.”

Screenshot of America.gov answering, “Has a president ever been criminally indicted? If so, who?” The response says former President Donald J. Trump has been criminally indicted and that no sitting president is shown in the cited sources as having been indicted. It cites Trump’s August 1, 2023 federal indictment on four counts related to conduct after the 2020 election, as well as Congressional Research Service information noting additional New York and Florida indictments.
