We have a bunch of new data out today from @pewresearch.org politics. First up, a meaty report on the midterms and views of Trump: www.pewresearch.org/politics/202...

With Americans in a Sour Mood, Democratic Voters Are More Engaged in Midterms
The 2026 midterm election comes amid deep public dissatisfaction with the state of the nation and near-record low approval ratings for Trump.

This trend from Pew is extremely revealing. They've been tracking the same people since shortly after the 2024 election. Astounding levels of erosion in support among Trump’s voters.

The graphic below shows deviations from a district's partisanship in each year. The red line superimposed over the graphic shows the Democratic advantage in the national congressional vote in each year. Years that are better for national Democrats are usually better for local Democrats.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Yesterday we showed how important primary turnout can be on a national level. But there's interesting things going on at the regional level, too. Most notably, in the core of the South, Democrats *outvoted Republicans* for the first time in decades in the primaries! (thread)

Yeah - I think the other piece of the story is the dismal compensation that is given to state legislators (less than $50k this year).

The measure was successful in its narrow aim of preventing politicians from serving for multiple terms, but this is just another way of saying that we've deliberately hollowed out our governing institutions of experience shifted the balance of power to the executive and interest groups.

Colorado could demand the necessary data to measure these harms (and the efficacy of policy interventions) as a condition of these companies doing billions of dollars worth of business in our state.

I took a look at some electricity data, and the transformation of the CO energy sector is pretty amazing. Since 2001, Colorado went from ~80% being generated by coal to over 50% from green sources. www.co-political-landscape.org/colorados-gr... #copolitics
Notes: Each line shows the share of Colorado's electricity production that comes from that source (annual averages). The five sources represented in the graphic account for over 99% of electricity production in Colorado during this period. The 2026 data include estimates through June.
