I think there was a credible threat or something and they thought the perp might be at the school already. Idk, this is being filtered from a traumatized mom thru me so the details are a bit hazy but the sentiment stands.

We're never going back, the toothpaste is out, but the rollout of this whole ecosystem has been terrible and a net negative for society, imo I sometimes use a local model for code, I'd give it up in a heartbeat if it meant we memory holed this whole thing

I think it is far, far worse and more damaging to pay Elon or Anthropic than to have incorrect views on AI. Promoting Claude as a tool does more damage than people whose understanding of capabilities are out of date.

The ways the people behind it are trying to infiltrate every aspect of our lives, I think most people are better off not using any of it. Most people aren't coders. Most people shouldn't offload their thinking.

I think this is correct, but I also don't think it matters all that much. Even as someone who over-indexes on "get the facts right/know how things work, even for things that are bad", the whole ecosystem is poisoned enough that I think it's fine for people to dismiss it altogether if they want to

A black cat with enormous round eyes holds out a small red heart towards the viewer. Text reads: “A big thank you to everyone who is still putting good things into the world when the world gives us so many reasons not to.” Beside the cat, an arrow points to the heart with the words “For you.”

You only matter as a victim if you are useful to the carceral system and its narratives.

There should be college rankings but for like, not getting assaulted at school. That seems far more useful and impactful then how competitive the admission rate is or whatever.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

One can make all the (misguided) moral arguments about comparative victimhood or whatever one wants, but if pro-Palestinian forces want to *win* I don’t see how you can argue that “stands firmly for Palestinians + firmly against antisemitism” isn’t your best strategic posture

the court ruling in favor of Drug Users Liberation Front in BC today declares a clear violation of human liberties created by the inconsistent moralism scribed into law by the carceral legislation of drug addiction. An astoundingly clear ruling on the intersectional materiality of human rights:

Honestly, something that would immediately improve things for higher ed workers is if somebody started a dedicated news outlet reporting on higher education from a labor perspective. Or if a major paper assigned even just one reporter to focus on higher education labor issues.

Yeah definitely a floor but within the ballpark. ex the US is also a lot bigger then must countries so you may want multiple import / export hubs there

For context, Jeff Bezo's wedding was like $50 mil. Mark Zuckerberg's yatch could fund this for a decade.

But it's a solvable problem for sure. Something on the order of $25 million / year would put a registered import org + staging warehouse in every country on earth.

DA like, already kinda does this for our aid network. But that's an extraordinarily honest, caring, tight knit ecosystem. The processes we've built scale but overall network trust reduces as the network grows and becomes more generic.

The problem with doing this for supplychains (as opposed for financial donations like Open Collective) is that you *really* gotta make sure you know what you're shipping. So you'd probably need to pair this with a staging warehouse where you can inspect goods before shipping. And infra costs $.

borderless @borderless.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
One day I'd like to try and do an Open Collective for import / export. Like, just setup the global organizational infrastructure to facilitate that on behalf of any local grassroots group. Fund it with a cost+ model and let donors sponsor specific shipments.

I think ironically, and perhaps a tad optimistically, we are going to go back to seeking out knowledge and experience from our communities and our elders because the internet as it is now has made it near impossible to find real info.

i hope that men notice how whenever a rape story gets widespread coverage, women use it as an opportunity to vent about how fucking disgusting we think many of you are and how many have made our lives measurably worse, and take a few moments to deeply process that.
