exulting over the suffering of others is generally pretty gross, but it gets esp wild in this country when you consider that our electorally reddest states are largely the ones with the most intense voter suppression

You have three days, starting today, to leave a public comment with the FDA about, say, why COVID-19 boosters should remain available to everyone and also free. "Individual consumer" is the category you most likely want (unless you are one of the other categories; if so, choose that).

Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner. nymag.com/intelligence...

Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Die Off
Sometimes older voters aren’t just naturally more conservative. It’s just that wealthier and whiter people tend to live longer and healthier lives.

This is right. The fact that they’re doing this to “innocent people” is not irrelevant, but it’s ultimately not the point. People convicted of crimes have rights too. And you can be damn sure that if they want to convict them - or me, or you - of something, they will.

And everyone, when evaluating James Carville's winning advice, please consider what Gavin Newsom's anti-trans swing has done for his numbers:
New data on the reaction to Gavin Newsom’s new podcast:

- Favorability amongst Liberals has declined from 46% to 30%.

- While some Republicans agreed with his stances, they overwhelmingly viewed him as insincere, calling him “fake” and “pandering”

- His net favorability dropped from +4 to -6, a 10-point swing in the wrong direction.

- Only 13% of voters had an improved perception of him, and only 1 in 5 said the podcast made them want to tune in for more.

The "WHY ISN'T AMERICA PROTESTING RIGHT NOW" takes - even from Americans! - really show how many people are programmed to believe the only "real" action is mass protests. Even with the constant stories of town halls & locals fighting back, people dismiss it because it's not "big." That's a problem.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

this is the party that keeps texting me and asking for money
Due to an unforced error by Democrats, we lost the National Labor Relations Board majority two years earlier than expected. This is a huge setback for the hundreds of thousands of workers across this country organizing for a better contract. Let me explain.

The NLRB is America's leading labor law enforcement agency. In the last 3 years, union petitions have doubled because we have a strong NLRB that supports workers who choose to form unions, ensures that corporations allow free and fair union elections, and protects union workers if Big Business retaliates against them.

The term of our previous NLRB Chair, Lauren McFerran, just expired on December 15th. She was eligible for reconfirmation alongside a Republican, who'd be paired with her. This would've secured a 3-2 Democratic majority on the NLRB for the first two years of Trump's second term. @BernieSanders did the right thing. He cleared her nomination on August 6,On the morning of the 11th, Senate Democrats had a chance to move McFarren's nomination vote through - which would've led to a secondary vote to confirm. Senator Vance, Roberts, and Manchin were absent that morning.
But we delayed the vote (for what I'm hearing described as "no reason") until Vance and Manchin returned, deadlocking the vote at 49-49.

We then failed to get word to Vice President Harris quickly enough to come and deliver the tie-breaking vote. In the 90 minutes that transpired, Senator Manchin returned first, swinging the vote in the other direction and ceding the NLRB to MAGA control two years earlier than necessary. These procedural blunders have massive implications for the American people, who deserve better from their elected officials. American workers deserve an explanation.

It will hurt the young folks organizing at Starbucks and the workers organizing at
Amazon. It's inexcusable and inexplicable that we did not prioritize confirming the NLRB appointees like we do federal judges and have ceded the Board two years before we needed to.
