I know not to expect much from a Tesco meal deal, but this bacon chicken pasta is bland as fuck. Swear it wasn't this bad last time I had one, albeit that would've been months and months ago.

I have a desire for the taste of energy drinks- yeah even the basic Red Bull and Monster flavours. I'm generally off caffeine at all other times, but for one energy drink every few days. Favourite is pacific punch, but it's not sugar free.

🏛️ Nearly every Plaid Cymru backbencher has demanded answers from the NHS on trans surgeries. In a joint letter, they asked what evidence, risk assessments, and consultations the NWJCC took in its decision. It's time for answers from NHS Wales.

Dear Mr Green,
RE: Pausing of gender-affirming surgeries by the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning
Committee
We are writing to express our profound disappointment at the abrupt pausing of planned operations within the Welsh Gender Service. The sudden nature of this decision by the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee has left patients, many of whom have been preparing for surgery for months or years, without the care they were expecting and relying upon.
The impact on individuals and the wider trans community in Wales has been significant.
Understandably, this development has caused distress, fear, and a deep sense of uncertainty.
This comes at a time when the rights and dignity of trans people across the UK are increasingly under pressure. You will know that gender-affirming healthcare in Wales is clinician-led, patient-focused, and carefully paced; it is not rushed, nor undertaken lightly.
In light of this, we would like to raise the following urgent questions on behalf of our constituents and the wider community:
• Why has surgery been halted for a form of treatment that has among the highest levels of psychiatric screening and one of the lowest regret rates of any procedure offered by the NHS?
• What specifically is the cause for concern?
• What evidence informed this decision?
• Why were patient stakeholders not consulted before the decision was taken?
• Was any risk assessment carried out regarding the impact of cancelling treatment at such short notice? If not, why?
• What role, if any, did NHS England play in influencing or directing this decision?
• What is the scope of any review now underway, and when can we expect its conclusions?

Senedd Cymru
Welsh Parliament
Plaid Cymru
• When can patients expect surgeries to recommence?
• What safeguards are in place to protect patients' mental health during this pause?
• What commitment can be given to the continuation of therapies and hormone treatment during this period?
Patients deserve clarity, reassurance and a clear pathway forward. We would be grateful for a detailed response addressing each of the above points, together with confirmation of how the Welsh Gender Service intends to support those affected during this period of uncertainty.
This letter is also being copied to Suzanne Rankin and Kirsty Williams, Chief Executive and Chair of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, given the board's role in administering the Welsh Gender Service.
We look forward to your reply.

Most transphobia, or so it seems to me, is about wanting culturally contingent hierarchies and identity scripts to be Inscribed in Nature in some deep way that obviates the need for reflective examination, and getting very anxious and angry about anything that makes it clear that’s a fantasy.

It's a nuanced issue. Just adding my voice JMS, so you see there are people out here who don't see it as black and white. Any use of generative AI/LLMs is going to provoke this kind of reaction rn. But there is interesting discourse to be had. Anyway, my post will also inevitably invite ire.

Although the faces are AI, they're not generated on the spot. Looks like everyone's getting the same faces to choose from (predetermined by your preferences on gender and age). Anyway; the unpopular opinions. I didn't get the aryan guy other people did; if I had he'd be my disliked unpop I'm sure.

From the online survey about who you find attractive. It shows my 'hidden gem', i.e. the one I liked more than most people did. It's a fat man of colour with a goatee, and absolutely deserving of love and attraction.

From the online survey about who you find attractive. It shows my 'unpopular opinion', i.e. the one I didn't like despite everyone else liking it. It's a generic white man with a beard, with what is likely a under average weight body. No flavour.

Bob Ferry @bobferry.design · 11/08/2026

To the surprise of no-one. But also, these are literally the faces that come up in the survey I rated highest, so there's no actual analysis here. Also there weren't many POC fat folks. And not that many fat folks overall. Is here btw. Who are you into? www.guidedtrack.com/programs/2dj...

Screenshot from the results of a survey to interrogate what you find attractive. It shows four AI generated men, all fat, and in this case all white, in their 30s to 50s, with either beards or moustaches.

Another screenshot from the results of a survey to interrogate what you find attractive. In this case, two 'auxilliary types' that differ from your 'main type'. It shows two AI generated men of colour, both fat, in their 30s or 40s, one with goatee and one clean shaven.

Why do it with AI at all? Because otherwise it's me auditing by hand for hours, every few months, forever. Or it's a developer building the tool, which means pulling them off something that matters more (or realistically they never have the time). This is work that otherwise wouldn't/couldn't exist.

000

Bob Ferry @bobferry.design · 03/08/2026

Made with Claude. Why? It collects the raw data then makes the qualitative calls too- is this a button, a switch, and/or which library is it from? The trick was that those judgements don't need to be clever (no human in the loop) they need to be consistent. Give it guardrails and it works just fine.

Bob Ferry @bobferry.design · 03/08/2026

Reached what should be the last version of the UI audit tool today. Running what could be the final dataset now (final version of it; we will regularly re-run it and get new/revised data). There'll be small fixes (always are) but broadly that's the thing built. Been a big one for me this year.

Second tip: that glue on the spines? That’s literally PVA, lads. Get a little brush and a bottle, coat the inside of the spine piece relatively liberally, the edge of the book block thinly, close and put in a clamp (or under a 12 pack of Diet Coke), remove, wipe off excess, return & wait to dry.

Lil’ protip for all those parents out there needing to repair the spines on beloved books. Get to a running shop and buy a roll of kinesiology tape. You’ve seen it in the football - it’s the weird tape they put over strained muscles. And it’s *the business* for repairing books.

The Times has played a key role in laundering transphobia and orchestrating anti-trans moral panics in the UK. Amnesty International UK, along with many trans and feminist organisations, have documented this. Trying to censor/punish people who say transphobia is “anti-rights” just proves the point.
