Although the faces are AI, they're not generated on the spot. Looks like everyone's getting the same faces to choose from (predetermined by your preferences on gender and age). Anyway; the unpopular opinions. I didn't get the aryan guy other people did; if I had he'd be my disliked unpop I'm sure.
From the online survey about who you find attractive. It shows my 'hidden gem', i.e. the one I liked more than most people did. It's a fat man of colour with a goatee, and absolutely deserving of love and attraction. From the online survey about who you find attractive. It shows my 'unpopular opinion', i.e. the one I didn't like despite everyone else liking it. It's a generic white man with a beard, with what is likely a under average weight body. No flavour.

To the surprise of no-one. But also, these are literally the faces that come up in the survey I rated highest, so there's no actual analysis here. Also there weren't many POC fat folks. And not that many fat folks overall. Is here btw. Who are you into? www.guidedtrack.com/programs/2dj...

It shows four AI generated men, all fat, and in this case all white, in their 30s to 50s, with either beards or moustaches.Another screenshot from the results of a survey to interrogate what you find attractive. Don’t mind me travelling with me stupid big backpack case thing. It contains treasures (tabletop minis).
A photo of a man on a train looking down between his legs at the large bag on the floor. It is a sturdy looking box shape, in black and red. Big and awkward.

For all the talk of parties not standing in Clacton being because they are scared, here's what the real fear looks like. Nigel is afraid of a bin.

Wotsits do nuts now. They left out the best flavour: prawn cocktail.
A bag of Wotsits brand coated peanuts. In this case they are cheesy flavour. The bag is the hallmark Wotsits colours, blue with orange and yellow. The flavour is called ‘Really Cheesy’, and in the middle of the bag is the tag line ‘That’s nuts’

If you see this, quote post with a robot that isn’t from Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who or Transformers.
A screenshot of an episode of Stargate SG-1 called Double Jeopardy. It shows two versions of one of the show's heroes, Colonel Jack O'Neill. One is in green camo airforce gear and the other in a black t-shirt. The one in green has his arm around the shoulders of the other and is being helped to walk.

One of them is a robot. But which one?

In another episode of this weird world we live in, I’m just scrolling Instagram and one of those joke aggregator posts popped up.. I laughed out loud at one page and it turns out to be a screencap of none other than @comicprintinguk.bsky.social

Just going through and finally ordering my Jira tix, and getting rid of all the really old stuff from the older defunct design system strategy.
A screenshot from The Lord of the Rings, showing Treebeard at the foot of Isengard, with yellow text that reads 'The filth of Saruman is washing away'. In context, it implies the defunct design system strategy is the filth of the old order.

Did some more drawing tonight. Decided to do some faces. These are strongman Dennis Kohlruss. He’s got a nice face and can be expressive when he talks so it makes good practise.
A sketches drawing showing two faces both belonging to strongman Dennis Kohlruss. There is also a third small simplified face of him. The two larger faces make use of solid black and hatching while the smaller face is just line drawing. The drawings show different expressions which suggest the man is in the middle of talking- with a slightly pursed mouth. Handwritten text indicates the date; 08/04/2025, or the 8th of April, 2025.

As promised, I also want to say how much I enjoyed These Young Wolves, also by @glennquigley.bsky.social (cover art by Jaycee DeLorenzo). It continues the story of Vince Knight in the universe of The Moth and Moon. Again, big burly folks, and queer romance, as well as adventure.
The book cover of 'These Young Wolves' by Glenn Quigley. Cover art by Jaycee DeLorenzo. The cover man in silhouette, walking uphill on cobblestones through an old town street. The colours are all deep blues and whites, as if desaturated like an old photograph. Overlaid is gold and white text, and a gold border styled with clockwork motifs. Gold text reads 'Glenn Quigley' and 'These Young Wolves', and underneath in smaller white text is 'The Knights of Blackrabbit #1'.

To continue on sharing media; meant to write this a few months back. I finished @glennquigley.bsky.social's We Cry The Sea. It was delightful. While the story doesn't explicitly have to be an end, it rounds off Mr Shipp's story very nicely. Cover art by Natasha Snow.
The book cover of 'We Cry The Sea' by Glenn Quigley. Cover art by Natasha Snow. The cover shows a large sailing ship, many sails unfurled sailing towards us, off centre, on a calm sea and in front of a sun breaking through the clouds. The colours are all warm yellows, pinks, and purples, like a red sunset or sunrise. White text is overlaid saying 'We Cry The Sea' and 'Glenn Quigley'.

This game lives within me. Of the few games that do, this is the one that has the title/menu screens that are most memorable. This game is amazing; and the art direction was perfect. The music (Solar Fields) for this page is playing in my head right now.
The title screen for the videogame 'Mirror's Edge'. Red text is overlaid on a cityscape. The city, the sky, the water, are all rendered in plain whites, defined simply by the blue shadows resulting from the very soft slightly warm light. The red text is principally the Mirror's Edge logo just above centre screen, with the text sat to the right of the logomark; a stylised red eye within a rectangle. Below that red text reads 'Press Any Key' and below that with a copyright logo, 'EA Digital Illusions CE AB. All rights reserved. Music would play in the background; over this menu. The track is 'Introduction' by Solar Fields, from the game's OST, and evokes feelings of curiosity, awe, and a sort of nostalgia, even when listening for the first time.

This is the next book; The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu (translation Ken Liu). @mattgikarp.bsky.social and I both realised we had this on our to-read list, and so decided we'll both listen to it now. I haven't seen the show, yet, but I'm only aware of the book because of it. Is good so far.
The Audiobook cover image for The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, translated by Ken Liu. The title and attributions are overlaid on an image in bold sans-serif white and red text. A white circle is also over the image, a circle with the Netflix logo, a red N, and text saying 'Inspiration for the Netflix Series'. The image is a vivid interplay of red, gold, white, and black, almost sunset like; it is a montage of a huge satellite dish and science station settled on a hilltop, where in the foreground from across a valley a young woman stands looking toward the station. Across the whole image is superimposed another woman's face, looking down, with a serene ot contemplative vibe.

Trying to get back into doing a little drawing. I’ve been feeling it’s missing from my life. Anyway, anatomy is always a good place to practise, so I do my usual thing of picking cute strongmen as targets. This guy is pull_my beard on Instagram; I’ve drawn him before. Was fun. I should do it more.
A black and white sketch drawing using pencil and ink, of a weightlifter/strongman wearing shorts but no shirt, body facing us but his face looking to our right, his arms at his sides. It is rough and has varying levels of finish throughout with the highest level of finish in the head and shoulders. Plenty of blocking black and thin hatching.

Onto this after. I am sceptical of books like this, but actually enjoying listening to this one. Again, very listenable, and has been funny. One moment of casual misogyny so far, which is disappointing, but overall the book is helping me reframe some things. Lets see how it goes.
An audiobook cover; striking orange with white and black text. The text reads "#1 New York Time Bestseller, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life, Mark Manson", and a sticker-like white circle is placed centre-right which reads "Author of the new book 'Everything is Fucked: A Book About Hope'"

Finished listening to this, this morning. Really good, at least for my needs. I have a story I want to write, in the back of my head, always. It imagines a post-climate change world, so I've wanted to read up more on the consequences of climate change. This was very good for that. Very listenable.
A book cover, audiobook version, of 'The Uninhabitable Earth: Life After Warming', David Wallace Wells. The cover is literally just an off white background with that text in black serif font.

A screenshot from the videogame Unreal Tournament. It is a view of the whole level, Facing worlds, or CTF-Face. It shows two identical towers facing each other, each standing on sort of asteroids connected to each other by two paths. The whole thing is in space. The implication of this image, is that the image in the quote tweet is reminiscent of it.

A meme, Homer Simpon saying "You mean there's a better way?". It's a screenshot of Homer Simpson. The shot occurs just after he watches an ad of someone suggesting there's a better way to get orange juice than squeezing an orange by pressing it against your eye. In the shot, Homer stops pressing an orange against his eye socket and asks "You mean there's a better way?".

My current listen. I don't think I've ever read it before. Maybe I did, a long time ago. I don't remember how it goes (that's not a joke 😏).
The Audible book cover for their adaptation of 1984 by Goerge Orwell. It depicts a small television screen with a disrupted visual signal, showing a man's face staring directly at you. The whole thing is in dull blue tones. The cover text reads 'George Orwell's 1984, Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo, Andrew Scott, Tom Hardy'. Overlaid on top is the text 'Audible Original' and 'Only from Audible'.

Well, people are posting this so here's mine. Not a remarkable number, and I don't know why being in the first 10% gives me some sort of a buzz but here we are. Celebrating Bluesky reaching 10 million users. (I suppose if I'm 305k in 10mil that I'm actually top 5%? 😛)
The image is from a Bluesky tool which shows a number, representing when the user joined. In this instance, the user bobferry.design was the 305,975th user to join Bluesky, and joined on 15th July, 2023. The number is displayed in black bold text in the centre, on white background. The Bluesky logo, in blue, sits in the top left. A blue stamp is also present which reads 'Bluesky Elder Certified, First 10%'.

Trying to resume some regular drawing practise. I now take classes in Wing Chun and thought it would be nice to combine anatomical study with study of the Wing Chun forms. Although this is not necessarily an exact execution of either.
A sketch of the upper body of a human from two angles; first side profile and second top down. In each the person has their hands in the Man Sau Wu Sau positions of Wing Chun Kung Fu, where both palms are open and held upwards in front of the chest, one behind the other.

This arrived today and it is wonderful. Also timely given how the vibes meet so successfully with Lethal Company, game du jour. I’m looking forward to giving it a read and (hopefully) a play.
Two books for a tabletop RPG called 'You're in space and everything's fucked'. The books are almost identical in their stark style but one is red and one is black. The red for the players is titled 'Struggler's Guide', and the one in black for the gamemasters is titled 'Station's Guide'. The subtitle reads 'A gruesome sci-fi horror RPG', and is by Nevyn Holmes.

Just played a trial game of the new Homeworld boardgame (using Solo play rules on the first scenario) .. this is the final position where you can see I was outwitted by evil enemy-rules-assisted me (red fighters reaching escape zone). Anyway it was fun.

Okay well, spent a lot of the afternoon knocking up one of the new Federation ships for the Star Trek Adventures game, or at least a nice blocky version of it. Who's got time to properly model and texture anything. It's meant to be a small exploratory science vessel, maybe housing 12-20 crew.
Screenshot of 3D modelling software, showing a basic assembly of shapes into an approximate starship. Intended as a small Federation science ship, it has a flattened torus for a saucer section. This shot is at a high angle, to the ship's left.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the top. With this shot it's easier to see the overall silhouette. The ring saucer sticking out in front of a short, stumpy main hull, either side of which emerges a small wing/support pylon holding a warp nacelle.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the front. This shot emphasises the downward triangle shape of the main hull, sitting behind the saucer section. The nacelle pylons extend from the very bottom of the main hull, the apex of the triangle shape.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the rear at high level. In this shot you can see the rear section of the main hull, which at the top, slopes down, intended to be similar to the rear section on a Runabout class ship.

I've been re-reading Star Trek Adventures material, and preparing various ideas, so I can run some STA sessions. Anyway, instead of doing the critical stuff like plot and characters, I'm designing starships instead, obv. Blocking out shapes for some new Klingon deep-space flagship.
Screenshot of 3D modelling software, showing a basic assembly of shapes into an approximate starship. Intended as a Klingon flagship, it has loose bird shape, with wings, neck, and head. This shot is at a high angle, to the ship's left.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the ship's right, at ship level. This shot shows off the long descending sensor array from the ship's head, and heavier undercarriage.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the top. With this shot it's easier to see the overall silhouette, with the very long neck sticking out beyond the central mass between wings and nacelles.Same ship as in the first image, but looking from the rear at ship-level. In this shot, the multilayered aspect of the wings is more obvious. Each side of the ship has 3 wings layered atop one another.
