Just before it was radically altered by industrialization, St Anthony Falls would've been at least 10' taller and about 3x wider than the current concrete apron. 3 of the islands in front of it are also gone.

Albert Bierstadt's gorgeous though somewhat romanticized oil painting of St Anthony Falls at dusk, prominent golds, greens and blues, one of the few works that shows it in correct proportions.

On the morning of January 7, 2026, Renee Nicole Macklin Good (“Renee”),
a thirty-seven-year-old United States citizen, poet, and mother of three, dropped her six
year-old son off at school, drove home through her own south Minneapolis neighborhood,
and stopped her car in the middle of Portland Avenue. Federal immigration agents were
operating there. They were masked, as was their practice throughout Operation Metro
Surge. Renee honked her horn to warn her neighbors. Her partner got out and began to
film. Renee stayed behind the wheel. She was not the target of any investigation, and she

I recommend people read this to get a sense of the president's grave cognitive impairment. Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.

Judging the ethics of these requests, though, was beyond the contractors’ remit. Their job, per the reporting, was purely to evaluate how well the Copilot AI fulfilled a prompt, such as whether it enlarged a woman’s breasts enough. And they were do to this, Microsoft instructed in documents obtained by 404, by relying on their “intuition.”

Some said they were asked to evaluate upskirt photos of women, or reviewed prompts designed to put women in sexual scenarios. Other depraved prompts were for children’s cartoon characters, or shortening a real woman’s skirt.

“Faces are always uncensored, and many of the prompts are sexual in nature and dubiously consensual,” one person who works on the prompts and who chose to remain anonymous told 404.

Earlier this evening a federal jury struck down a brazenly unconstitutional traffic stop scheme "that turned mass surveillance of American drivers into a pipeline of pretextual traffic stops and unconstitutional searches." ij.org/press-releas...

The unconstitutional program ran in five steps: First, surveillance cameras across the state and country recorded license plates and logged when and where cars went. Second, analysts and anonymous tipsters flagged ordinary travel, like driving toward the border and back, as suspicious. Third, Bexar County sheriff’s deputies invented a traffic violation to justify pulling over the flagged driver. Fourth, deputies pulled drivers into their front seats, interrogated them and asked consent to search their car. Finally, fifth, if the driver refused to consent to a search, a K-9 alert from a manipulated dog supplied the probable cause to search anyway. This practice happened for four years to countless motorists.
