Quintessential Trump: In 2025, Trump axed the program to combat New World Screwworm, stating that they had "saved" $1.5 million a year. In 2026, the Trump announces a $1 billion emergency program to combat the Screwworm outbreak. $1 billion would have funded the old program for 667 years.

I never really looked at the opening shot of Star Trek 2 before. It opens on a computer image of the Enterprise, viewed intently by Spock (Nimoy is the first face onscreen). Some foreshadowing there. Then tracks across most of the cast members with a surprise reveal of Saavik in the captain's chair.

After Plessy v Ferguson it was 58 years before we got a court willing to overturn it. I don’t think Black people who want to vote and women who want to have rights to their bodies and trans people who want to EXIST should have to wait that long because it offends your sense of propriety.

In the paradoxical standard set forward by the Supreme Court, the only way to tell if districts were drawn for racism is if the people drawing them say so. But if the districts are drawn so that Black voters in the South get almost no representatives, that's not racism.
