When did it become so normalised to describe often far right thugs attacking people as "scuffles" but make out anyone just trying to seek safety is a threat to national security?

“You think we’re getting a little too close to Meta?” [John Georges, co-owner of Georges Media Group, the state’s largest media organization and parent company of the state’s largest newspaper, The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate], asked. “I’m not afraid of the sun. Not only is SV not PR, it could be even less proportional than what we have now. SV is what you'd propose if you wanted to trick people into thinking you were doing something. I don't think Curtice will go along with it.

Burnham has destroyed two of the main arguments of the Westminster parties. He's pensioned off the claim that Scottish state pensions can only be protected in the UK and by opening the door to an EU referendum he's blown up the argument against indyref2. weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/10/02/b...

I worry that Labour are making a trap for themselves on electoral reform 1) SV *is not* a form of PR. So would do nothing to account for our fragmenting politics 2) Opting for SV would just rehash the referendum on AV, which reformers overwhelmingly lost www.politico.eu/article/andy...

This is a dreadful argument from Burnham. Empirically false - almost 6m people were granted settled status; about 4m are currently resident. More importantly panders to racism/xenophobia, and directly contradicts argument made in his speech about migrant contributions.

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."
A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

The proposed bill does little to protect trans children from formalised conversion torture. Stella's complaint is that parents may face some scarce restrictions in meting out the torture themselves. Under the proposed legislation, they'd need to be guided in doing so by a quack.

Baffled by the complexity of this. You could go for a headline like "we're moving to an earnings lock" (although maybe that wouldn't save as much?) but instead we're keeping two-thirds of the triple lock and claiming that this will mean the other third still sort of applies?
