The bill has been opened to feedback. Rather than dooming about the proposal, you can tell them exactly how you feel about the act here. ec.europa.eu/info/law/bet... With how much of an uphill battle Chat Control is having, you should never assume it's worthless to fight these draconian bills.

Boston will keep using cameras, just not Flock’s

When asked if the city will keep using license-plate cameras as long as there are appropriate constraints, Wu replied, “Yes, we need a publicly approved and authorized policy to guarantee all of those protections, privacy, civil liberties, and if that’s in place, then we should deploy technology to be able to keep people safe and solve crimes faster.”

Yep. I've had to explain this even to blue state trans electeds: here in TN, we *had* the rights to healthcare, accurate ID, playing sports, etc. We lost all of those rights we already had! I was one of the last trans people who could get their gender changed on their driver's license!

Very disheartening to see more and more Dem politicians lean into anti trans positions and when trans people say "man, this sucks" they get swarmed by people yelling at them for handing elections to the GOP. Wish they had that energy for the politicians.

Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

investigation was originally developed for The New York Times, where it underwent eight months of editing, multiple rounds of fact-checking, and independent replication of the underlying methodology. The piece had a scheduled publication date when requests for comment were sent. It was only after the Times reached out to the subjects of the investigation for routine comment that the Elias Law Group, representing the DCCC and DSCC, sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the paper not publish. Although the paper's fact-checkers and legal department later cleared the piece before sending out a second round of requests for comment, the Times ultimately decided to kill the piece.3:27
a4democracy.substack.com
The piece was subsequently slated for publication at The Bulwark, where it underwent additional fact-checking, data verification, and legal review. When requests for comment were sent to the subjects of the investigation, lawyers representing the Progressive Turnout Project and Mothership Strategies likewise responded with legal letters demanding that the article not run.
From there, publication was repeatedly delayed. The piece cleared successive rounds of legal review. When I asked for a committed publication date after months of delay, The Bulwark conditioned publication on my accepting an extensive rewrite prepared by its editors that, in my assessment, removed key empirical findings without explanation, introduced claims contradicted by the data and fact-checking record, and presented the subjects' legal defenses as my own conclusions. When I declined to publish under those terms, the piece was released back to me.

If anyone needs a script for calling their senators today, here's what I said #StopKOSA #SaveSpeech #NodigitalID
Script for calling senators, August 4, 2026:

Hi! I’m a constituent of Senator [name], and I have two things that I want the senator to know.

First, Trump has nominated Adam Candeub for the Justice Department's Antitrust Division. I would like the senator to vote against his appointment. Among other things, he wants to bring back anti-obscenity laws like the Comstock Act.

Second, KOSA and the SCREEN Act are scheduled to go before the Senate Commerce Committee tomorrow. Whether or not it makes it out of committee, I would like the senator to vote against these bills. They do not protect children, but instead age-gate the Internet, violate our privacy, and put our personal information at risk.

[staff may ask for your address or zip code]

[staff may ask if you have anything else you want to say]

That’s all I wanted to say today.

[staff will likely say they will pass along your message]

Thanks, have a great day!

NEW poll in 18 toss-up districts (with a sample that voted Trump 48-45) shows independents & moderates are *not* looking for the archetypical Moderate candidate — and are not dissuaded if outsiders are labeled too far left. Strong support for Israel was the *least* appealing quality in a candidate.

I would add that the yea votes of these Democratic Senators are a particular slap in the face to all the anti-ICE protestors in Minneapolis, considering that it looks a whole lot like Martin volunteered help the AUSA prosecute protestors there in the wake of the murder of Renee Good.
Martin seems to have volunteered to take up politically charged prosecutions after a slew of Minnesota ASUA resignations. Following the mass resignation of more than a dozen Minnesota AUSAs after Renee Good's murder, Martin and Eastern District of Michigan AUSAs under Martin seemingly volunteered to join another state’s U.S. Attorney’s Office to support the filing of politically motivated cases coming out of Minnesota. At least one of these cases, filed by AUSA Danielle Asher (who reports to Martin), was filed in the Eastern District of Michigan, extending the prosecutorial tentacles from Minnesota all the way to
eastern Michigan.
