I think the biggest political mistake people make is thinking that "moderate" is neutrality and not "mix of different views" and fail to recognize that refusing to pick a side just comes off as too weak to peer pressure to risk offending someone. And EVERYONE hates that so you alienate them all.

FurAffinity (a furry focused online art gallery) is looking for funding after refusing to comply with advertiser demands. And oh boy are some of those advertiser demands are pretty ridiculous.

The bill has been opened to feedback. Rather than dooming about the proposal, you can tell them exactly how you feel about the act here. ec.europa.eu/info/law/bet... With how much of an uphill battle Chat Control is having, you should never assume it's worthless to fight these draconian bills.

Books don't even need clip art oh my god just go outside and find like 4 good textures, photgraph, and throw them in the same file together as blending layer. Instant abstract background. I do that for my art CONSTANTLY

Like the cold hard truth is a majority of people do not care about marginalized people's rights, but it's still based on INDIFFERENCE. Adopting bigoted policy is still a form of virtue signaling, and adding it to your brand has the same alienating effect as being "too progressive" to them.

There is also a secret third issue they aren't realizing. The specific people they are trying to win over, aka "shut up about identity politics" ones, often can correctly recognize that attacking trans rights is still prioritizing a topic they're sick of over said gas prices.

Boston will keep using cameras, just not Flock’s

When asked if the city will keep using license-plate cameras as long as there are appropriate constraints, Wu replied, “Yes, we need a publicly approved and authorized policy to guarantee all of those protections, privacy, civil liberties, and if that’s in place, then we should deploy technology to be able to keep people safe and solve crimes faster.”

She is like Eminem where growing up killed her whole selling point. Her whole appeal was to girls who were kind of outcast messes, but she grew out of that role herself, and that identity and social status is so divorced from her current self she can't write anything like that of substance anymore.

Yep. I've had to explain this even to blue state trans electeds: here in TN, we *had* the rights to healthcare, accurate ID, playing sports, etc. We lost all of those rights we already had! I was one of the last trans people who could get their gender changed on their driver's license!

Very disheartening to see more and more Dem politicians lean into anti trans positions and when trans people say "man, this sucks" they get swarmed by people yelling at them for handing elections to the GOP. Wish they had that energy for the politicians.

I think the one piece adaptation is a great example of this. It is NOT a direct adaptation. It is LESS accurate to the manga than the anime. But it still stays on track, gets the characters right, and those divergences make it fresh for people who already have heard/read the story before.

Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

I feel like all quirky cars must have an autism base. Like Porsches are objectively some of the best in that catagory too. And honestly my hot take is the biggest car reliability factor is being on top of maintenance and Dream Cars are going to be more reliable just due to investment.

If my gender is "girl, but other who doesn't count" no matter what label I use why am I subjecting myself to transphobia not just misogyny? Legitimately do not see the benefit of being out of the closet unless you have offline safe spaces that won't treat you like that.

😈Kat😈 @bittersnurr.bsky.social · 23/08/2026
It's kinda wild that just not using a space between trans and a binary gender is considered a transphobia dogwhistle for the implication trans is part of the gender not in addition but you can tack a binary gender onto non binary people and they're the transphobes for being upset.

Where are the "ghosting is bad" articles for KIDS who are kicked out on the street by parents cutting them off? It is so much worse when the person who ghosts you was serving a caregiver role, and you lose shit like housing with them. Just missing someone doesn't mean their absence is abusing you.
011
😈Kat😈 @bittersnurr.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Yeah there are some cases there is actual room for concern about someone cutting you off, but these stories are always where the harm of their absence is emotional and not even like, someone you're dependent on bailing and you can't afford rent anymore or something.

uhhhhh
investigation was originally developed for The New York Times, where it underwent eight months of editing, multiple rounds of fact-checking, and independent replication of the underlying methodology. The piece had a scheduled publication date when requests for comment were sent. It was only after the Times reached out to the subjects of the investigation for routine comment that the Elias Law Group, representing the DCCC and DSCC, sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the paper not publish. Although the paper's fact-checkers and legal department later cleared the piece before sending out a second round of requests for comment, the Times ultimately decided to kill the piece.3:27
a4democracy.substack.com
The piece was subsequently slated for publication at The Bulwark, where it underwent additional fact-checking, data verification, and legal review. When requests for comment were sent to the subjects of the investigation, lawyers representing the Progressive Turnout Project and Mothership Strategies likewise responded with legal letters demanding that the article not run.
From there, publication was repeatedly delayed. The piece cleared successive rounds of legal review. When I asked for a committed publication date after months of delay, The Bulwark conditioned publication on my accepting an extensive rewrite prepared by its editors that, in my assessment, removed key empirical findings without explanation, introduced claims contradicted by the data and fact-checking record, and presented the subjects' legal defenses as my own conclusions. When I declined to publish under those terms, the piece was released back to me.
