Dungeness: It's the first time I've known a juvenile Long-tailed Skua not to be the main event at Dunge sea watch, also 30+ Arctic Skuas, 15 Black Terns, 100s each of Common and Sandwich Terns.

A superb afternoon seawatch didn't have a great deal of birds but it did have excellent quality - the star being a first for Dungeness in the form of an adult Brown Booby! Other goodies included a close juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 15 Black Tern and three Little Gull. #kentbirding

A successful day-trip twitch for the Solitary Sandpiper on Tresco yesterday. It showed so well and it was great to take in the finer points of the ID. Well worth checking pp projection on any Green Sand type that looks a bit different as a first way of checking #ukbirding #scillybirding

We have made a proper effort to catch Sand Martins over the last two autumns, with over 800 ringed so far between the two seasons. Thankfully, Sand Martins have a fantastic recovery rate, giving us a great insight into where our birds either coming from or are going too.
