On one of our recent owl catching sessions, we caught a 1cy male Barn Owl that was ringed elsewhere. Expecting it to be somewhere local, due to the fact that most don't move very far, we were surprised to find it was ringed 134km away as a chick on 23rd May near Touchen End. #kentbirding

A superb afternoon seawatch didn't have a great deal of birds but it did have excellent quality - the star being a first for Dungeness in the form of an adult Brown Booby! Other goodies included a close juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 15 Black Tern and three Little Gull. #kentbirding

A successful day-trip twitch for the Solitary Sandpiper on Tresco yesterday. It showed so well and it was great to take in the finer points of the ID. Well worth checking pp projection on any Green Sand type that looks a bit different as a first way of checking #ukbirding #scillybirding

We have made a proper effort to catch Sand Martins over the last two autumns, with over 800 ringed so far between the two seasons. Thankfully, Sand Martins have a fantastic recovery rate, giving us a great insight into where our birds either coming from or are going too.
