Yesterday was easily one of our most exciting days of the Autumn so far, with our first Eyebrowed Thrush caught and ringed in Church Field while our first Little Bunting of the season was mobile between The Warren and Pancho Pond. #Spurnbirds (1/3)

Correction- Subsequent sightings confirmed yesterday's Long-tailed Duck to be the drake Mandarin Duck, which flew west from the sea over The Triangle and north up the Humber. #Spurnbirds @rarebirder.bsky.social

So far today: 2 Quail in off the sea (one at the Warren just after 08:10, another at the Bluebell at c.09:05), Lapland Bunting south over the Warren at 08:35, Mandarin Duck flew upriver from the Borrow Pit, and juv Caspian Gull in off at the Warren at 09:17 #Spurnbirds @rarebirder.bsky.social

Saturday featured our 1st Black-necked Grebe since 2021 on Beacon Ponds, juv Red-backed Shrike in Corner Field, Osprey south over the sea and a juv Hen Harrier north through Kilnsea. 2 Lesser Emperor Dragonflies were also at Easington Lagoons and Beacon Lane. #Spurnbirds (1/3)

Upon review of photos and after further sightings, the reported Rosefinch actually refers to an Ortolan Bunting. Having been seen heading north over Corner Field at 08:30, it then flew back south over North Field at 09:00 towards the Canal, with no sign since. #Spurnbirds @rarebirder.bsky.social
