This is Nazi rhetoric, full stop. It's not only a call to instigate a race war in the United States, but it's reminiscent of historic European justifications used to incite pogroms against Jews. People who say things like this are incredibly dangerous, as there is nothing they won't eventually do.

Defund and abolish ICE. Melt down their weapons and shift its budget to social services and affordable housing. Ban everyone who led or worked for ICE from any government job. Corporate death penalty for the companies that aided them. Citizenship to all of its victims, should they want it.

I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

Journal comics- the joys of being autistic and anxious in which you worry your friends secretly hate you
Panel 1
In front of a store with pink awnings, two folks, one goth with pink bangs and the other with wavy blonde hair, wave goodbye to Elise wearing a red beanie and jean jacket who waves back.
Goth: text us when you get home! Love yaaa!

Elise: you too! Love you back!

Panel 2
Elise passes by a store window and notices their reflection staring back at them anxiously.

Panel 3
Elise leans towards their reflection. Regular Elise has a soft smile on their face while the reflection looks down anxiously with clenched fists.

Elise: I’m gonna stop you right there, champ. Don’t over analyze how you did, okay? You know these folks. If you upset them, they’ll tell you and then we’ll work through it.

Panel 4
Close up on Elise’s white sneakers as they continue walking.

Panel 5
The back view of Elise as they stroll away.

Text boxes: Trust them. Trust you.

"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence
they did the research in the first place because they believed you and wanted to tell people about it. they are not our enemies.

reblog by aphony-cree

people always go "Instead of spending all that time on a study they could have just listened to us when we said these thing happen"

they did listen, that's how studies work, they asked people about their experiences and put all the data together in a nice package that can be cited

Everything Gale says in this thread, but I'm highlighting the visual literacy part bcuz we as a society don't put enough emphasis on visual communication. We treat reading and language as only a matter of alphabet, not images. Children need both. Dismissing the role of art doesn't help literacy.

Speaking of weddings, the other destabilizing element of Spotify has been that the incorporation of its streaming data into the Billboard charts means every time a song gets played on its platform, in any context, it adds to the song's charting position. If a lazy DJ fires up one of Spotify's "Wedding" playlists or your local grocery store is streaming Spotify as background muzak for your trip to buy some paper towels, that gets counted towards those songs charting position and certification. This would be like Kenny G having the most popular song of 1987 because "Songbird" got a lot of spins in dentist waiting rooms. Without getting into the quality of the song itself, Ella Langley's
"Choosin' Texas" is currently stuck in the #1 position (21 weeks and counting) because it is stuck in the #1 position. It's #1 so Spotify recommends it to users all the time which keeps it #1. Thus, a song that would have ran the country charts and peaked around #36 on the Hot 100 15 years ago is now the biggest Billboard hit in history.

The reason that the Harry Potter apologists won't just read better books is because they're not looking for good stories...if they were, they wouldn't have glommed on to Harry Potter. They're looking for the camaraderie and social phenomenon that Harry Potter was in the 2000s.

Dem messaging: "Trump and Co are doing this really evil and harmful thing instead of focusing on your prices." Me: "Okay but let's focus on the evil and harmful thing. The fact that it affects my prices is secondary." Why don't they appeal to people's morality instead of their greed?

Hey, for any gamers who don't like reading, most of the article outlines all the ways JKR makes trans people's lives hell. Most news outlets are too scared to write like this, so shoutout to GameInformer for reporting on the real facts of the matter
All of this is to say that Rowling uses the funds she makes from the Harry Potter franchise to fund anti-trans groups and target the trans community, which makes up roughly 1% of the world's population. Though Warner Bros. Interactive said Rowling was not involved in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, she undoubtedly made money off of it. It remains to be seen if she'll have any involvement with the in-development Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

This made me cry. I felt seen. Games are fun, of course, but for me they’ve been educational tools, too. Dialogue options that give different results, affection meters, and much more are all aspects of videogames that have taught me what my family and peers insisted I should already know. 1/2

I think these could be used to educate those who, like me, struggle with social etiquette by repeatedly simulating social situations and using experience to learn how actions have long term consequences. I think this can also help to narrow the scope for those who struggle with decision paralysis.
