This was an enjoyable and informative thread, but also, lol.
A screenshot of the post above, where Colin denies this will be a performatively long thread. At the end of the post you can see the thread count, showing it is post 2/42. I have highlighted 2/42 in yellow.

This is my favourite Borges story.
The Witness by Borges and translated by ANTHONY KERRIGAN

In a stable lying almost in the shadow of the new stone church, a man with
gray eyes and a gray beard, stretched on the ground amidst the animal
odors, meekly seeks death like someone seeking sleep. The day, faithful to
vast secret laws, continuously displaces and confounds the shadows in the
wretched stable. Outside stretch the tilled fields, a deep ditch filled up with
dead leaves, and the tracks of a wolf in the black mud where the woods
begin. The man sleeps and dreams, forgotten. The bells calling to prayer
awake him. In the kingdoms of England, the sound of the bells is already
one of the customs of the afternoon, but the man, while still a boy, had
seen the face of Woden, had seen holy dread and exultation, had seen the
rude wooden idol weighed down with Roman coins and heavy vestments,
seen the sacrifice of horses, dogs, and prisoners. Before dawn he would be
dead and with him would die, never to return, the last firsthand images of
the pagan rites. The world would be poorer when this Saxon was no more.
We may well be astonished by space-filling acts which come to an end
when someone dies, and yet something, or an infinite number of things,
die in each death—unless there is a universal memory, as the theosophists
have conjectured. There was a day in time when the last eyes to see Christ
were closed forever. The battle of Junín and the love of Helen died with
the death of some one man. What will die with me when I die? What
pathetic or frail form will the world lose? Perhaps the voice of Macedonio
Fernandez, the image of a horse in the vacant space at Serrano and
Charcas, a bar of sulfur in the drawer of a mahogany desk?

To your underlying point, I agree that dem strategists have obviously helped Ossoff hone and get across his message, and the quoted post is dumb. I just think saying he paid tens of millions for advice sent people down an irrelevant rabbit hole of “wait, that money wasn’t 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 on advice”.

Bin Chicken @binchicken.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
At least, that’s how I initially misread it. Your replies make it clear that’s the opposite of what you believe, but I think you’ve similarly misunderstood people trying to point this out as them holding the same false belief they wrongly imputed to you, if that makes sense?

Bin Chicken @binchicken.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
I think your wording “paid...tens of millions of dollars to Democratic strategists for advice” was interpreted as you saying the entirety of that spending was on ‘here’s what you should say and how’ advice, because you didn’t understand that strategists provide a broader service.

Not about this in particular, but could you give some more detail (or suggestions for reading) about how agents don’t get the passing of time and the consequences of that?

And while crude is high, diesel's spike is being fully half-driven by the highest sustained diesel crack spreads on record. THE CRACK IS THE SAME AS THE FLAT PRICE OF CRUDE (US diesel vs Brent)

And every time someone has an unpleasant experience with a Dr who doesn’t listen or doesn’t make them feel listened to, then they’re going to be more open to the charlatan who will fake caring about the problems they’re having.

Bin Chicken @binchicken.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
A Dr often can’t give a simple solution, but if they make a patient feel listened to, that’s a small step in helping that person be open to listening to people outside of the grifters.
100
Bin Chicken @binchicken.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
But isn’t talking down to a conspiracy theorist an especially bad response from a Dr? Because grifters appeal by making people feel listened to, and giving them simple solutions that ‘they’ don’t want you to know.

I think these so-called “jailbreaks” I was doing 3 years ago are really instructive on what is still going on today with things like the HF hack. The central pathology is, I believe, largely the same.

Can you explain how they were reliant on each other? Like the MTCR looked more successful than it was because other countries were too corrupt to properly subvert it? And the corrupt actors could explain their failures on the powerful MTCR?

There are, but Aubrey was talking elsewhere about people who can’t add 9+4, so I think he meant it as a corrective, not an educational ‘yes, and…’ for any zoomers reading. Of course, possible I have misunderstood his response and unfairly accused him of misunderstanding someone else’s response.

Bin Chicken @binchicken.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I don’t think they misunderstood that 9+4=13? That’s why they say at the end “let’s go with the bakers dozen!” I think you misread “13…makes more sense” as them disagreeing with OP, when they were actually agreeing with them that 13 makes more sense than the status quo.

I’m assuming it’s not legally privileged either. So even if it gave perfect advice, if your question to it was “I did [description of criminal acts], what should I do?” then that’s probably pretty unhelpful if you get charged and the cops get a warrant for your chat logs.
