The power of our work in setting the foundation of number relationships with basic facts is that we can extend these strategies to other # sets. Here's an activity to match multiplication strategies for 45x16 and the models that make this thinking visible. ann-elise-record.mykajabi.com/multmatch
Left side shows words describing double and halving multiplication strategy by doubling one factor and halving the other. The right side shows an rectangular area model that demonstrates this relationship.

Lastly, it says a lot about this country that the idea of being more inclusive across identity is considered radical, but here we are. Fight for a vision that demands we see each other as full human beings worthy of dignity, respect, and intellect. They can't stop us all until they stop us all.

A little #choralcounting today as students explored counting down by 10s while modeling the count using base 10 blocks in small groups. (And what happens if we go more in either direction). Favorite comment before we started: “Oh yay! We’re choral counting again!”

Good morning! Number one way in the coming weeks to support the work that brought you Which One Doesn't Belong?, Tiling Turtles, Math On-A-Stick, and the Hierarchy of Hexagons is this: Pop into your fave bookstore or library to ask for How Did You Count? ISBN: 978-1032898353 Coming in March
Book cover for How Did You Count? There is a sideways diamond of shiny plastic spheres carefully arranged on a wood floor. The left "half" of the diamond is a triangle with base five, made of light blue spheres. The larger, right "half" is a triangle with base six, made of red spheres.

Upper left: a circle.
Upper right: a many-sided regular polygon.
Lower left: an ellipse at a jaunty angle.
Lower right: a square with very rounded corners.
