I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Had convos w/ multiple people in the past 4 days who DID NOT KNOW that 1. AI doesn't "think" or know anything; it's a probability machine 2. It was created using massive amounts of work stolen from actual people including me 3. The environmental costs are astronomical Spread the word, every time!

In case you have been under a rock in the US and haven't heard about the math errors put out there. You can *never* have a 600% decrease because you can't decrease more than 100% of an amount... 100% is the whole amount. Check out the updates on this post. #iTeachMath

Going up by 600% means 7x as much, bc we add 6x original to original amount. Going from $600 to $10 is amount of change div by original amount --> 590/600 = 98.3% decrease. Hot take: the derivative & antiderivative rules for x^n should be called the "Polynomial Rule" not the "Power Rule". Bc my #calculus students keep trying to use these rules on e^x and a^x ... 🤷‍♀️😱 Thankfully mostly for integration, derivatives they seem to have down cold. #iTeachMath

I'm telling you, the solution to many problems in education is to hire school librarians (at a liveable wage, with administrative support, and adequate resources). Your students don't need an LLM, they need a librarian.
