Yeah, I volunteer at my local food bank and the form asks if you can comfortably lift 40lbs, and that's at a warehouse. (And you can still volunteer if you can't, you'll just be sorting vs packing/ moving crates.) I feel like "having volunteers suddenly lifting 150lbs" is a huge liability issue???

But once I figured out that putting your foot down (and maybe acting a little unhinged) works it made dealing with creeps WAY easier. I grew up with a lot of narcissists, and ime you have to treat them like a bear - get big, get loud, become a problem. Don't back down. Make them wonder if you'll really do it. People like this are cowards, so if you make it unpleasant to fuck with you, if the risk is too high, they'll bail.

Sometimes the awkward laugh and running move IS the best move - especially if you don't know them/ see them frequently and just need to gtfo. But if it's someone you're around frequently, they're gonna push you too far eventually, so the earlier you can stop their boundary pushing, the better
