The 22nd of Nolo quickly becomes the 23rd as it transits the International Dateline, shifting its title from major hurricane to typhoon. It remains 15E. It’s been advised upon or outlooked since September 8th. Nolo is forecast to approach Asia in five days or so. 🐻⌚️

A massive upgrade to almost all of our Latin American tornado data is now available on the site! We're aware of some additional data still for South America, but as of now we've included as much publicly available information as we could.

There is finally a potential for a hurricane or strong tropical cyclone east of North America — but it’s in the Mediterranean. There’s been a growing signal among ensembles for a medicane, or subtropical/tropical cyclone in the Mediterranean, that may develop this week.

Is this account a bot? Because the time stamp on the post is approx 1920 UTC and the text says a trop storm watch is in effect for Oahu. But over 1h30m earlier, at 1744 UTC, NWS issued a trop storm warning for Oahu Seems like either a glitch or a miscommunication

🇺🇸 For a tournament that started with so much promise, the United States journey at the World Cup ends exactly where it did in 2022, 2014 and 2010: The round of 16. This loss, unlike the others, was an ass-whooping. At a home World Cup... this is a disappointment.

June 2026 was the second warmest June on record (after 2024) in the ERA5 dataset, at 1.39C above preindustrial levels. While we expect warmer temperatures later this year as El Niño kicks in, 2026 is now increasingly likely (~86% chance) to be the second warmest year on record.
