The buoy 215 miles southwest of Hilo has seen its pressure fall a bit as Nolo passes by. It eclipsed its September record by 5 hPa, the previous record wasset during Iniki. The period of record is since 1984.

No. This is not a subtropical cyclone. It is an elongated frontal wave on the southeast side of a record strong high for September across southern Quebec. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Issues with Polo extend into the Southern High Plains, where its moisture contribution aloft aids a heavy rain event from today into Thursday. The model guidance has had a cohesive signal for this for at least five days.

A significant improvement is coming to the TC rainfall maxima webpage…here is the test page. The new column sorting is likely to simplify the TC rainfall web page set. Two, maybe three of the existent pages could disappear due to the increased efficiency. www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/tropical/rai...

And with Tropical Storm Dolly now declared remnants, here's how Atlantic ACE is shaping up heading into peak season.
Atlantic Basin accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) for 2026, running well below average with 4 tropical storms and 0 hurricanes to date.

Hybrid Hurricane Lala and sheared T.S. Moke. Lala is easily 12 hours into hybrid/subtropical-like status — the tropical transition (TT) could take 24-36 hours from now. The good news is since it’s co-located with an upper low that a lower SST threshold than 26C would be sufficient for TT. 🐻⌚️

On its current track, Tropical Storm Lala could become just the third hurricane landfall in Hawaii state history. Catastrophic flash flooding is possible with 25+ inches of rainfall expected on the windward side of Hawaii island.

Bertha briefly became a tropical storm. At the time, it had convection, albeit not well organized, near its low pressure center. It’s been so badly sheared the past 12+ hours that remnant low fits. Should its forward motion ever align with deep convection ahead of it, a center jump is possible.

A cyclone with ~ 992 hPa pressure per offshore obs at noon their time. June low pressure records would be eclipsed at short POR sites if the cyclone came ashore at this intensity. For longer POR sites like Seattle and Portland, it would be close.
