Update in DC Election Dropbox on the GW Campus at 23rd and I, NW, in DC. As of 2:36 pm on Saturday Oct. 10th the National Guard is no where near the drop box and is not visible for blocks. Troops clearly got the message to disband which makes me think they were told to be there in the first place.

NYPD keeps insisting it’s not working with ICE in the narrowest scope of not literally participating in kidnappings but then goes silent when people present evidence of ICE using their precincts/parking lots, of NYPD doing crowd control. Big difference in technical and de facto assistance.

In this sense, “ending homelessness” is like “Medicare for All” - policy that sounds hopelessly unaffordable but in fact, because sleeping rough and private health insurance are such astoundingly bad ideas, would put money in our pockets that we could spend on other things like “universal daycare”.

Yes. Homelessness is a choice that we make, as a society, every day. If it gets treated as part of the architecture of civilization, that’s only because powerful forces want you to think that way. Finally, it would cost less to house every unhoused person than it costs us to leave them homeless.
