I’m pretty bad about calling my folks, and they’re not great about calling me. But we all just know that about each other and and we make up for it by using the time we do spend together positively instead of guilting each other about bull shit. Not the closest relationships, but we’re happy.

Oh so you’re kind of imagining a first of its kind law that penalizes any use of AI images, even obvious and clearly labeled AI that did not deceive the buyer, more strictly than any other violation of real estate regulations or even deliberate fraud. Good point, I wonder why that hasn’t happened

Nothing inherently wrong with a what-if pic. But if the confusion is deliberate from the seller, that may hard to prove. But it has to be labeled, make it clear the pic is not the current house, then if it’s not labeled, that’s proof enough to show the seller deceived the buyer on purpose.

that’s already how contract law works. If you sell a thing that doesn’t exist, whether it’s AI, photoshop, or just a picture of a different house, there are remedies to correct that. The mayor is talking about AI images showing what a renovation might look like being confused for how it looks now.

It’s difficult under the first amendment to ban a particular form of speech, even false speech. Speech includes communication through inages. There’s already robust deceptive trade practice laws, it’s prob easier to just update those to include deceptive ai images.

I must differ on your last point only because you did not limit it to passing legislation. I think a +3 dem majority in the senate would block a Trump replacement of Alito and Thomas. If the Dems cede ground on the court, the inevitable federal ban will be found constitutional.

I think boring dopey candidates try to meet people where they are. Convince them to vote because the candidate represents what they already think. But you can’t meet everyone where they are at once without being spread so thin you’re transparent. Good candidates convince voters their way is BETTER.
