With McGlynn's transfer to stoke, a good time to revisit this video from last year. Think he'll do better than I was initially thinking in the Championship. He's not super physical, but he moves the ball so quick that he doesn't need to ride challenges youtu.be/xtgRcbdQ10k?...

I want him to succeed but this was the funniest "welcome to the prem kid" moment. Had a few okay passes so far otherwise

Really interested to see where Jack McGlynn goes, if anywhere, considering his physical profile at 23

I kinda love this. Vets that are above MLS starter level like Wagner, Blake and McKenzie provide the structure needed to let the youth thrive. They're set up to make a run for the Sprint Cup before Cavan leaves. Fwiw, I think RBNY have the same window, but need the same level of vets in back.

Not many teams in MLS would spend so much after their record transfer flopped so spectacularly. Whatever their success rate is love to see this ambition from Atlanta

From SEA POR last night. Seattle was so narrow in their buildup which meant it was easier for Portland to defend, and their rest defense allowed acres of space for Portland to get into. Which is fine if you're good at defending crosses. Seattle wasn't last night.

VAR has also just fostered the expectation of perfection from referees, when their purpose is to keep the game flowing and safe. Most refereeing decisions are subjective and VAR doesn't make them any less subjective.

This is what really hurt: they didn't even go down with any fight. It's fun to talk about how much more talented this team is than past USMNT World Cup squads, but the simple reality is they haven't shown a fraction of the heart or fight we've seen in the past.

Kyle Robinson @backseatsoccer.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Impressed with the USMNT's ability to break down a low block this WC but they clearly didn't have any answers when the other team didn't hand them possession. Disappointed but not too surprised. Get rid of pay to play and maybe we'll see some progress

A scandalous decision, FIFA placing its thumb on the scales of the tournament without even feeling compelled to offer a fig leaf of justification. Borderline red cards happen all the time and plenty of teams with more at stake than the USMNT have to just deal with it.

Mexico doing a much better job defending today, much more switched on. But I have no idea what the plan is for South Korea in possession. When they work it through the middle 1 touch it's great but they keep trying to go around or over
