Disorienting to see the Sounders playing well. Is this allowed? You can actually play all your best players at once?

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

Steph White talks about officiating bias a lot despite coaching The Chosen One, but the truth is, that free throw differential was largely her own fault. One team knew how to win on the playoffs, while the other didn’t. Perhaps they’ll look in the mirror and improve by next year, but I doubt it
Unless you think that a league hellbent on positioning Clark as its next superstar called in a hit on her entering the last 10 minutes of her season, the pretty obvious answer is that the Aces made a commitment to attacking the paint and forcing Indiana to defend without fouling down the stretch, while Indiana remained content to settle for jump
shots. Through three quarters,
Indiana had been called for 16 fouls and sent Las Vegas to the line 20 times, while Las Vegas had been whistled 15 times and Indiana had 16 attempts at the stripe. Those numbers aren't perfectly even, but they're functionally even. In the fourth quarter, when the Aces' Hall of Famers channeled Ludacris and told both their teammates and the Fever to get out the way, Indiana was called for 11 fouls and sent the "big three" to the line 15 times, while Las Vegas committed 3 fouls and Indiana had 4 free throw attempts.
Relatedly, Las Vegas attempted exactly one shot from outside the arcin the fourth quarter, while Indiana took 11 of its 20 shots in the fourth quarter from 3-point range. Combine the widely accepted fact that drivers draw more fouls than jump shooters with the Fever having ranked 13th of 15 teams in percentage of plays on which they committed a foul in the regular season and the Aces having the lowest foul rate in the league, and it really isn't hard to understand what happened at all. If White and her players can find the
accountability and selt-awareness to accept those facts, that loss Will probably be one that they use as motivation to get better, and perhaps one day to become the team that the Aces have been for the last five years. If not, they'll probably be complaining about officiating again in a year or so.

Exceptional solidarity from ASU hockey players who have demanded their coach be placed on leave for essentially overseeing the murder of their teammate and have disputed the university’s findings. www.nytimes.com/athletic/764...
Seven Arizona State men’s hockey players asked the university’s president to place the Sun Devils’ coaching staff on administrative leave pending further investigation into the workout that left sophomore transfer Matthew Mayich on life support.

In a 26-page letter sent to ASU president Michael Crow on Monday and obtained by The Athletic, the players disputed numerous findings from the university’s initial review of the Aug. 20 workout, writing that Mayich did not receive water and was provided inadequate medical care after his collapse.

It's easy to rage out loud that the mayor hasn't funded more more more more more cops, but it's much harder to explain the budget changes that would enable that escalation, which is probably why the rants against the mayor always end at the rant part.

let’s go washington, the pac that sponsored the anti-trans initiative this fall as well as the millionaire tax repeal, props both of these girls up and does their media placement. this column would not pass standards. running it is being mouthpiece for a pac run by a rich hedge fund manager
One of them was 16-year-old Ahnaleigh
Wilson, who'd lost to a biological male in a track and field race in eighth grade and was holding a sign reading "Thank You Sophie for Speaking up for Girls!"
I didn't know if I was going to write something at that point, but after she allegedly got cussed out by a Storm co-owner during the game, I felt like I had to weigh in.
One thing Wilson emphasized to me at the rally was that she wasn't anti-trans. Another student-athlete named Frances Staudt — who said she's endured daily verbal abuse after refusing to play against a biological boy in a basketball game — echoed Wilson's sentiment.

July bike counts obliterated Seattle’s all-time monthly record
Data through July 2026. People took more bike and scooter trips across the Fremont Bridge in July than in any month ever in the city's history, and it wasn't even close. The 153,238 trips was near 11,000 trips more than the previous high-water mark set in August 2019, and total counts for 2026 through July are up more than 18% year-over-year. We aren't just so back, we have left "so back" far behind. The pandemic-caused dip in bike trips, largely due to the decline in downtown commute trips, is well and truly over.
