The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, holding a red ball labeled "A SILLY MEME".
The second panel shows Sarah taking the ball and going through a door labeled "GROUP CHAT".
The third panel shows a group of women sitting together and consoling one woman in the center. The woman in the center is saying "...And that's how it happened. It's been the worst day of my life."
The fourth panel shows Sarah standing in the doorway behind them awkwardly holding the red ball.

We should absolutely protect Jane Doe and talk about what we can learn from the failures before, during, and after the harm in this case, but we gotta keep pointing out that this is but one case in an overwhelming, gigantic sea of experiences like this.

But we have to be careful when this convo centers one case. The reason they want to dox this woman or focus on how many times her story changes (if it even does) or worry over the ruined lives of the men involved is because you can pick apart a single case. Everyone will find it in what they want.

Gendered violence is a systemic cultural and societal problem. And when one of these cases boils to the top, you can see that in how many survivors come forward to explain how similar their experiences are, in ways both big and small.

To speed up mass deportations, the Trump administration didn't just launch raids—it stripped $200M+ from nonprofit legal aid groups, bringing them to the brink of collapse. Here’s how immigrant legal defense barely survived the campaign to kneecap them:

First Trump came for immigrants. Then he came for their lawyers.
How legal aid groups survived the administration's attacks—barely.

The idea that women are given special rights based on sex is a remarkably absurd framing and not how discrimination protections actually work in practice. It can only stem from a thoroughly right-wing understanding of the world that believes marginalized people are granted extra entitlements.

But an increasing proportion of arrests have been made by local law enforcement in partnership with ICE, via 287(g) agreements. In many regions, it can be difficult to know when local officers are conducting routine policework or immigration enforcement. In many cases, they are doing both.

The first requirement of restorative justice is a perpetrator’s confession. He has to admit what he has done and to take accountability. The men in this case are smearing the victim and threatening her with lawsuits. They are not candidates for RJ. They would turn it into a new site of violence.
