I was reminded of the original Ultraman and now I (one of the bisexuals in this subsystem) am busy thinking about how smoking hot Ide Mitsuhiro was. What an absolute babe. Fun character, too.

The Ultraman comic relief character Ide Mitsuhiro, as portrayed by the late actor Nihei Masanari. Ide is wearing a bright orange Science Special Search Party uniform with black trim and a too-long necktie. He stands before a wall of obviously fake computer greebles and screens, his hair in an immaculate pompadour. He is a total smoke show.

Ide Mitsuhiro, smiling widely and showing his perfect gleaming rows of teeth. What a man. What a charming goofball. I wish I could've had his babies.

Yamaguchi: In the third season, there’s a string of stories where Ryoga gets tricked by Ranma, all following the same pattern one after another. While recording the lines, I sometimes thought, "Ryoga, you really ought to catch on by now" (laughs).

New #Ranma1/2 fanart from @beedokfern.bsky.social ! A quick 4-koma comic showing the important beats of Akane's first meeting with Ranma!

A 4-panel comic with a red-to-blue gradient background featuring the characters of Rumiko Takahashi's "Ranma 1/2", drawn and colored by @Beedokfern.bsky.social

Panel 1: Akane Tendou meeting Ranma Saotome for the first time. Akane seems intrigued by this mysterious pink-haired girl being presented to her by a Panda of all things.

Panel 2: Akane and Ranma are grinning at each other in a dojo hall, two girls having fun with a sport they both love.

Panel 3: Akane walking in on Ranma in the bath, except, oh no, Ranma turned into a boy!

Panel 4: Akane arguing bitterly with the boy-form Ranma. How dare that jerk pretend to be a girl!

Apparently this concept is difficult so i drew a picture

A very basic drawing of a bar with good on the left, silence in the middle, and evil on the right.
There is an arrow pointing to the division between good and silence that says ‘Where the line of
opposition actually is’

There is another arrow pointing to the division between silence and evil that says ‘Where people think the line of opposition is’

had to cancel plans due to illness, so I figured I'd spend the money on motivation for my #RanmaOneHalf x #OnePiece crossover, "Straw Hats & Pigtails". Art by @dkirbyj.bsky.social We haven't gotten to the Merry yet, but you can follow along at archiveofourown.org/works/851385...

An illustration of Saotome Ranma's female form as per the Eighties/Nineties anime with red hair, perched atop the rim of the crow's nest on the Going Merry from One Piece. Ranma is wearing a nineteenth century style white waistcoat with braided trim and accents in rose gold, a navy blue and rose gold sash, and navy blue pants with plain black shoes. Her gaze seems locked on the horizon, a slight smirk on her face.

there's also WAY more Happosai in the old anime, and he gets a lot less in the way of backlash/punishment for being what he is. The people in charge seemed to think it was really funny to have an old man molesting teenagers without consequence.

Nerima Wreckers Crew @autobotwarrior.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

you're welcome! Some of the decisions are really strange, like cutting back on the amount of time Ranma spends perching in high places (for example, the end of the Figure Skating arc—which they adapted out of order for the old anime, having Shampoo show up before it so they needed whole new scenes)

Now there's budget for decent animation, the manga is long finished so there's no need to wait to catch up, and scenes can be adapted more faithfully to the original story.

120

Nerima Wreckers Crew @autobotwarrior.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

it was good for its time but it wasn't a faithful translation of the manga to the screen by any stretch, and frequently suffered from animation/art quality issues outside of the OVAs and movies. Not to mention the whole Sasuke thing....

110

Nerima Wreckers Crew @autobotwarrior.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

the original anime skipped over story arcs, changed or cut dialogue in ways that affected characterization, swapped the season/setting in cases where it was plot-relevant, inserted characters into scenes they weren't present for in the manga, and relied heavily on anime-only filler episodes.

Broadside and his nephews. #maccadam #transformers

Broadside carrying the aerial bots in his aircraft carrier altmode. He reminds me of a mother possum.

four panels demonstrating broadside hanging out with each aerialbot individually.

panel 1: Broadside and Slingshot bonding over their big ass foreheads.

panel 2: Broadside and Skydive peacefully resting in a big grassy field. Skydive is reading a book with his back resting on Broadside, who is laying on his back.

panel 3: Air Raid looks up to Broadside
Air Raid: "I'm gonna be a wrecker just like you!"
Broadside, sweating: "Haha, dear Primus, please don't."

panel 4: Fireflight observes a small flock of birds, he does not notice that he is about to crash on a mountain.
Fireflight: "Look, Broadside! These earthlings have flight formations too!"
Broadside: "FIREFLIGHT LOOK OUT!!"

Silverbolt: "Did you know I am afraid of heights? Embarrassing, huh?"

Broadside: "OH, no way!! Me too!!"

Silverbolt: "...what"

Broadside: "I also get seasick all the time!"

A sequence of images showing Broadside removing his "helmet"

His helmet is a reference to his final model that is on his original G1 toy, while his actual head is based on his prototype model.
