NEW: I wrote for MSNBC about how Madison Square Garden turning off their facial recognition cameras for Taylor Swift is a perfect encapsulation of our dystopian present: where the wealthy can use surveillance to consolidate power, and the rest of us live in a privately owned panopticon.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got to buy MSG's privacy. Her fans aren't so lucky.
Reports that Madison Square Garden temporarily shut off its facial recognition system for Swift’s wedding expose a glaring problem with how the elite wield and control mass surveillance.

it does actually sound like taylor farms and the white house teamed up to try and blame taco bell for the outbreak. unprecedented corruption
Within hours, the White House agreed the patient surveys painted a clear picture, the people said. In an internal call, the White House aides approved statements from the public health agencies for public release — though they still only identified Taco Bell as linked to the outbreak, without naming Taylor Farms specifically.
Taco Bell moved first, releasing a statement. While it did not explicitly name Taylor Farms it said it believed "public health is a shared responsibility among restaurants, their suppliers, and authorities, and we are proud to have consistently acted quickly and proactively to protect our guests."
The agency updates on the outbreak were finally posted after 10 p.m. New York time - hours behind schedule - and also omitted directly naming Taylor Farms or saying if the company would recall products.

Amy Coney Barrett just told Congress that it would be inappropriate to explain the reasoning behind the Court’s unreasoned shadow docket orders. As if unreasoned judicial orders are a thing. They are not. The reasoning is the whole point.

stuff like this is why one important avenue for court reform is just nixing the shadow docket altogether and forcing these people to explain themselves to the public when they issue orders. also, making their records property of the united states and subject to publication when they leave the bench.

This paragraph gave me an epiphany about Matty Y. It's not that he doesn't understand how politics words. It's that fundamentally, he doesn't understand *what politics is.*
What I would ask of everyone at the table is simply that they respect the diversity of America and the wisdom of trying to compete effectively across this vast and varied land rather than trying to cancel each other. And I would urge people whose passion in life is shifting public opinion rather than responding to it to find a different line of work than electoral politics.

As Kagan sharply points out, Kavanaugh's opinion simply transforms Thomas' dissent in that 2001 case into controlling law of the land. She highlights how radically the newer justices have changed campaign finance precedent. Whole thing feels like a farce. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
Almost to
flaunt the point, the analysis gives pride of place to JUSTICE
THOMAS’s dissent in that case; if only the rest of the majority had been there to join him! See ante, at 23. Today’s
decision thus can join the parade of those recently overruling established law because of a new majority’s new outlook
on a consequential matter.

Roberts' core holding is that (a) the Federal Reserve is special because of history, and (b) Trump did not allow Lisa Cook to exercise her statutory right to dispute the charges against her. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
Having rejected the Government’s view that the courts
are to play no role in assessing the validity of a Governor’s
removal, we may decide this application on narrow
grounds. No matter the precise definition of cause, or the
scope of our review of any such determination, the President failed to afford Cook the procedural protections to
which she was entitled by statute. Without such protections, she could not properly dispute the charges the President laid against her. We thus need not address Cook’s constitutional due process argument, for the statute alone
makes it unlikely that the Government will prevail on appeal as to the validity of the procedures used to fire Cook.
