Predictions are fun. Having made some before the election of Trump's second term maybe it's time for a recap of how it's going. 1. Trump would align with Russia (and China) against Europe ✅ 2. Trump would go after Greenland ✅* 3. Trump would be successful in stealing the midterms ❌❓

Sadly it's a win-win for Russia. Europe does nothing: Russia gets to continue scaling up aggression unhindered and undermine the whole idea of Nato. Europe retaliates: Putin gets thee perfect excuse to start with mobilization, which is what he really wants.

You can't be a European patriot and side with the people trying to burn Europe down. The era of "both sides" is over. Politicians working for our enemies need to be treated like the threat they are. Being soft on betrayal is the fastest way to become a vassal state

After the Viggen for India affair (the US blocked RM8/JT8D export approvals) the F404 selection was apparently contingent on the US giving a written undertaking to not do the same thing again. Unfortunately now Trump is in charge that promise wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on.

I'm honestly less mad at the President, who is clearly not well, that I am at his outriders and enablers. They see messages like this and then, with straight faces, go on television or write op-eds retroactively constructing grand strategy justifications. Pathetic.

This has been Trump's intention from the start. All he wants is to pursue US (and personal) economic interests in Russia, and Ukraine is currently an obstacle to being able to do this. So the 'Ukraine obstacle' - in his mind - has to be removed and/or neutralised.
