This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Nor’Easter is heading towards the east coast so reminder that if you have any other option DO NOT put your body in flood water. It has raw sewage, gasoline, chemicals, medical waste, radiological waste and more — anything the water touches. People die from infections after contact with it.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. In the end they believe chronically ill and disabled people are weak or lying. They think if we just gave up medicine and our attachment to medical science and just ate non-GMO, “chemical free” foods we’d miraculously heal (or die, which is fine by them too).

Blue states have a real opportunity to invest in education. They could attract students who want a full education from red states. But it requires investment, which is hard to get even with a dem government. And it requires believing in broad education — education for citizenship not corporations.

This is very much a “for you” situation. Like when well-off white people say “I can’t believe how bad police have gotten!”, you have to append “for you” to that statement. “Now they’re coming after disabled people!” Where you can see it. “I can’t believe they’re messing with [my] voting rights!”
