I am a barrister who once spent time seconded to the CPS serious crimes unit making charging decisions. This seems like politics rather than a coherent defence on the part of Thomas? I hope, given that he’s already a convicted violent offender, it increases his sentence. Someone for whom the public safety aspect of him being kept off the streets seems totally obvious.
